  • My mate Marmite

It's four in the morning and I'm dying with man-flu.

Temperature off the scale, dehydrated, hot, flannel on head, restless, dry eyes, dry mouth, listless, head swimming, can't think straight, can't concentrate, can't breathe, sore dry throat, sniffing, runny nose, coughing, husky voice, no energy, weak and feeble, soaked with perspiration, splitting headache (migraine x10 at least!) over one eye, bruises from OH's constant elbows in ribs and who is there for me at this time of the night? - my mate Marmite.

At times like this Marmite on hot buttered toast is always my comfort food - and that wonderful taste on hot crunchy toast is sublime. Mrs A is the only one who hates it in our household - and she is outnumbered 5-1 including the dogs who salivate when they are due some on toast as well.

    Mmmmmm - feeling better already.

Any Marmite recipes / suggestions greatly appreciated to help me deal with the traumas and terrors of man flu

You're a brave brave man JA.

I sometimes wonder how women can live with their consciences when they allow someone really ill to fend for themselves.

      JA,
Although there are no known treatments for man flu, its purely our virile masculinity that keeps us going through this killer disease that would surely slay the female population overnight, Marmite is also a well known treatment of most serious medical ailments in my house too.
Just make sure that Mrs A doesnt catch it or it could be very dangerous indeed for her.

When I have flu(and I mean, of course, proper flu, the sort that would probably kill a man!) My whole body and soul craves Batchelor's Cuppa Soup, tomato and basil flavour. A thing I really couldn't fancy at any other time.
Anyway J.A. I hope your cold is better soon!!

Elephant Flu?? My God Lynda, are you likely to survive?

Just in case, can you please put labels on all your gardening tools, leaving them to me please. Oh and what sort of car do you own? And and what else have you got?

Other than that, get well soon
