Ooo just noticed the adds meself and it means more scrolling since I visit the forum on the sly at work and so keep the screen very small. I guess we put up with what we must but as someone who's never clicked on one of these adds I have to question how useful they are.
If pop ups are the next step I may have to go on a well rotted manure throwing escapade to protest the intrusion on advertising in my life.

We've listened to this whole thread - all though the response isn't as positive as we'd hoped, it's not as bad as it could have been (and I know some of you are just being polite!).
1 point I would like to make is that we would NEVER consider having pop-up ads here. They ruin the internet, and the user experience. We have many brainstorming sessions here at GYO on trying to make this site better. It' not always about getting more people to buy the mag, it's also about building an online community for gardeners and allotment owners. However, as LJ has previously said... This site is expensive to run. So much so, this site is running on a dedicated server. The projects in the pipeline are VERY exciting and we know you will all love them, but have little funding behind them. We're are going to try several advertising methods in the future to find the most unintrusive, user-friendly method. It just so happens that today's is Google Ads. When we try another, Google Ad's 'will' be removed. We also accept this might not work!
I've started another thread in this board today as a direct way of getting your opinion to us. So please have your say there.

On a final note - If you see something you like in the ad - CLICK IT. Some of these Ad's will be relative (and some won't).
