and yes piskie always makes me cry too .... tis weird i saw a sign yesterday in the shopping centre, that said they will be observing the silence ..... i blubbed at that too

it was a bit strange here cos most of the morning the lads are on the firing range - so tons of gun fire going on - then the announcement came on my radio at the same time as the station tanyo announced and the gun-fire ceased, the chaps lowered their heads, the 2-minute silence ended, the gun fire commenced ....

I must confess that I forgot at 11am as I was busy doing something else, I thought about it earlier but as I didnt hear anything at 11am it passed by and I looked at my watch at 12 noon. I did go to the memorial parade on sunday so will I be forgiven ?

Happybunny laid the wreath on Sunday on behalf of her Girls Brigade. Although it nearly didn't happen as on the march up to the church there was hailstones!! an it was so windy that they only decided at the last minute to continue with the laying, minister had to take wreaths in and put out later when wind died down.

My daughter was asked to carry the flag for her girl guide unit but she didnt want to as she didnt know what to do at the other end but she has said she will do it next year ----- if she is still in the guides.

My daughter laid a wreath for the beavers and son escourted the cub flag. OH was parading with his unit in Winchester. The weather was terrible but there was still a good turn out.

Yes, her pal was really worried as she had the flag her arms were aching after trying to stop the wind catching it and she nearly got hit on the head in the church when presenting the flags by the brownie girl OOPS!

many moons ago Snowdrop attending the Albert Hall for the parade and I asked him did he sneeze during the 2-minute silence, he said it is something they all dread.

Can you imagine that - they can face enemy and shoot if they have to - but to sneeze in front of their countrymen/women during a 2-min silence reduces them to wrecks ....hehehehe

And apparently, if 'you' are spotted on TV by your mates back at base it costs you a slab of beer

2 Mins silence was held (and observed by ALMOST all) at our local ASDA. Very moving.

In the middle of the silence (definately not observed by all ) where I work a teacher came up to me and asked me a question - I stared at her for 90 seconds while she became more and more irate . At the end of the 2 minutes - I walked off without speaking.Later she came back to say sorry- I told her it wasn't good enough .
