the charges being dropped beggers belief really, on what grounds can they concievable be dropped?
ok, murder if no intent to kill, but surely that leaves them open for a manslaughter charge?
maybe there should be a charge invented just for this circumstance?
i am sorry, i just dont GET how this can go unpunished, even those social workers involved aided and abetted by not doing their job properly.

It makes me so angry the way social services get away with this stuff. I gave up Fostering because of them, the lack of support we, the child we fostered and his family got (not in the borough where this boy was from). And they take responsibility for NOTHING, NOTHING is ever their fault. They blame everyone - but themselves but the scariest thing is they are answerable to no one.... you make a complaint (not even a complaint - just voice a gripe that for the fourth time in a month an error has occured) and they close ranks very quickly indeed, there is no one to complain TO. There is no governing body, no one to discipline them.
Do you know why no one has been punished? Because there is no one to punish them. They are a law onto themselves and I feel very strongly that they need a massive overhall, they need taking to task and they need to be governed properley by an independent body. They are getting away with far too much and this sort of thing will keep on happening until there are BIG changes.

I don't know enough detail about the case to make any comment on why things were missed or who's responsible, but makes me sad to think what that baby must have gone through given the injuries.

Not a violent person, but I'm sure I could survive being left in a room with the people who did it with nothing but a vice, pair of players and a club hammer.

Well I actually went to bed early last night, after reading this in the news all day, and then watching dispatches last night 'africas witch children' I was so bloody depressed.
why when life is hard is it always children that these sick people turn on? I don't get it, children are the most precious thing any society has surely?

Everyday some poor little kid is being abused I never understand why people stay with these sick people, One partner blames the other. Relations let it pass and do nothing, you all know what happened with my niece when my bil was negecting her I phoned him up and told him what I thought, we didnt let her go home she was old enough to make her own mind up and he wasnt hitting her or anything just doesnt get parenting, she is still with my sister and will be for a very long time. We gave him a few months to show us what he could do and he failed, had she had bruises or anything she wouldnt have been there one day let alone any longer. Trouble is we are all afraid of getting it wrong and accusing where its not needed but just sometimes we should shout from the rooftops. Babies and children need protecting and if you get caught doing wrong the punishment should fit the crime.

The Social Services keep saying that they try to keep families together & support them rather than take the child into care but good grief what do they have to do to a child before it gets some help! Some people are just not fit to have children & it should be obvious in cases like this poor baby that his place was not with his mother but in a place of safety.

I think this must be the most sickening case of child abuse ever and with the greatest number of people who were supposed to protect him doing nothing.
How a paediatric consultant could see him 2 days before his death and spot nothing just beggars belief.
And yes, there are other children out there suffering. All we can do is be vigilant and report any suspicions. Probably doesn't do much good though. The SWD are hell bent on keeping families together at any price. I think the child has to be dead before they admit any failure.
As for the perpetrators - well people who could do that are capable of anything. They should never see the light of day again.
