  • White fly on my sprouts.

    Hi all,

Not been here for ages. Our first year has been a real learning curb.
Less Runner beans and cabbages next year...more Broad beans and peas.
Must be more ruthless - and take out the weaker plants - don't listen to the old man who says its wrong throwing anything away, it must all have a chance to life!

Stagger the planting of Caulis and broccoli, all came through at the same time, froze what we could but ended up giving most away.

But WHY are my sprouts covered with white fly?? I thought white fly were more prone to greenhouses??

Will they still be edible (trying them out on the old man tomorrow).

White fly is an excellent source of protein.

They are a major pest of brassicas ... try interplanting with French Marigolds to deter them, spray with chilli garlic spray (use your Search button to find the old thread) and give your veg a good salty wash before you eat it.

Netting is of little use ... they are so small they will easily get through it.
