I have a forum and use the same software as this but a later version and although I don't have the same amount of members the thread and post numbers are about the same - I have many more pictures on my forum which uses much more ban width (it's too hard to post pictures on here!) - my licence etc. for the forum has come up for renewal so I have set up a donations page to help cover the costs, maybe that is something you could consider - how many people on here would be prepared to pay even just £1 to get rid of those adverts? Here is a link to that thread.......

I think a previous response by myself may not have been clear. We have enough funds to pay for the grapevine!!
The goal of these ad's is to justify the cost of adding new features! New features that are yet to be implemented (the ads have only just gone on). Not maintain the running cost of the grapevine! The maintainance costs, that are already very high (but were not complaining :P), with the new server, software upgrades. Please don't ask us what these features are yet, we're holding our cards close to our chest
Poultychat, you state that we are using an old version of Vbulletin. We are in fact using the most current version, you, however are using the same software but 6 versions behind. We always endouver to maintain our software and ALWAYS keep it up-to-date. We would recommend that you update yours ASAP!

Would i normally return, proberbly not and I only returned to right this. Can you make it open into a new window????
If you use Firefox you can set the browser to automatically open links in a new tab or new window from options. I suspect Internet Explorer has a similar property but I don't use it so am not sureLast edited by DrBill; 04-09-2006, 01:53 PM.

Google Ads are fine!
I have a couple of websites myself and have Google Ads on one of them. They are easy to set up and a very effective way of defraying the cost of running a website. It's also remarkable how well they can be automatically tailored to the content. Put this together with their unobtrusive nature (no in-your-face popups or banners) and they are perfectly reasonable.Last edited by Lesley Jay; 04-09-2006, 03:34 PM.

Don't normally mind ads, provided they are not intrusive! This is a brilliant forum, I love it! I love the interchange, the humour, the advice. The only problem I have with adverts is when they swamp a site (or magazine (but not GYO)). Other than that, if it helps to keep the forum going, that's fine by me. Keep up the good work GYO!

Hi again, This is another one of my mad ideas, why not get rid of the google ad's and get some afflilicate links? They will make you more money than the adsense and will look a hell of a lot better.
This might help you to (www.Thedeathofadsense.co.uk)
Just another idea of mine.
ThanksLast edited by Adam Fletcher; 25-09-2006, 04:12 PM.
