Cooler here than yesterday but still muggy. Off to the allotment shortly. I tried out the new toy (battery strimmer) yesterday. I shall continue today. So far I am impressed. It is so light and simple to use.

Morning, cooler and cloudy here today, a bit of overnight rain too, quiet day today, we don't leave the house at the weekends these days, too crowded everywhere, so hopefully sitting in the garden and enjoying it. Grass has been cut, edges need doing if it's not too warm later. Enjoy your day and keep out of trouble, especially you Rary.........................

Good morning/afternoon everybody.
All this talk of roulade has reminded me I made one last week and froze it to have for dessert today. I had forgotten and have made blackberry mousse for dessert instead. Oh well, it will be a treat some other time.
The brambles in the hedgerows round here are thick with blackberries, really I've picked enough to last all winter, but they are so beautiful and big I just can't stop myself picking more when I'm out for a walk. I still have bramble jelly from 2018 and 2019 and now I've made more, but this time using honey instead of sugar, and adding crab apple purée to help it set. It's so good, I'm going to try doing the same when the wild damsons are ripe....

I noticed the wonderful abundance of blackberries around. I need to find somewhere I can park my car to go picking. Unfortunately the hedgerows I’ve used until now have been grubbed up by developers even though it was a condition in their planning that they should be left. It’s a particular bugbear of mine. They say they will replant with native broadleaf trees, but that doesn’t replace the wildlife habitat they have removed.
Anyway, hello all. I went to a GC today, a proper one, not a department store pretending to be one where they sell clothes, toys, silly gifty things and have a quarter of the site given over to a restaurant. This GC has been there for nearly 70 years and is fantastic. I managed to get two of the things I needed, 2 large oblong trays for the poly tunnel which solves the wasted space problem and 3 pot saucers of the right size for my Grecian urns. Unluckily they were severely short of food type plants. Plenty of trees and flowers but I wasn’t in need of those today.
I also want a hoe of the pull type, not push. I have one of those. I gather they are called “swan neck” hoes. Have they gone out of fashion? I find them much easier to use. I might have to risk the internet again reluctantly.
It’s much too hot to work outside at the mo. I’ve copper taped the new trays and in the PT, put the urns in their saucers and on their stands on the edge of the patio. Now I’m chilling with a glass of cold wine and waiting for the day to get cooler so I can get outside again."I prefer rogues to imbeciles as they sometimes take a rest" (Alexander Dumas)

We were supposed to have severe storms yesterday evening.....no idea who got them in the end -but it wasn't us.
Lovely to hear everyone's weekend news...and yes Janie-the swan neck hoe is my favourite too.
No specific plans for the day as yet...I'm sure it'll get filled with something useful

Morning all. I planned to make a cherry pie but only have one tin of cherries. What is the best fruit to add to cherries to bulk it up?
Need to cut the lawn, top off my apple trees which are laden with apples and do some major weeding in the borders.
I sowed some Mooli in rows at the allotment and after three days the seedlings were showing so I am chuffed with that. I must get my pointy and ball headed spring cabbage sown soon or else I will miss the window. Same with planting out the PSB which are really a bit too big for transplanting.
Plenty to keep me occupied anyway. Take care folks. My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Morning all.
We had a little rain last night and this morning it's cloudy. So a bit of relief from the heat. Due to hit mid to top 30s midday, but another cooler night, thank goodness.
A bit of paid work on the cards. Biggest issue, though, is friends (mum and two sons) staying in the house of a much closer friend up the valley, as they have rented out their own house. I thought I'd made it very clear on a number of occasions we wouldn't be seeing them and certainly not socialising with them and that we were being very strict. The message has obviously not gotten through, though. Short of being rude, I'm not sure how to resolve the situation. Mr Snoop has gone out for a while, leaving me holding the fort. Anyway, maybe it'll all work out, but so far, not good.
Catch you later. Have a good one meanwhile.

Morning, much cooler and threatening rain, it would do as we are having a picnic with our daughter and two grandsons before they go back to school, won't be on the beach, probably in the garden where there's plenty of cover. Enjoy your day and stay safe all.
