        • Snoop, I put half a dozen biscuits in the biscuit tin and freeze the rest too, or they'd all be scoffed in a couple of days. All the recipes I've tried from the book are so good.

Nicos, I use Mary Berry's recipe as a base https://www.maryberry.co.uk/recipes/...cial-mincemeat
and jiggle the dried fruit around as I don't like mixed peel or cranberries. I had a little packet of dried blueberries that I put in to use them up, and I didn't have mixed spice so I used half a teaspoon of ground cloves and the juice from about an inch of ginger root.
Also caster sugar as I don't have Muscovado. The butter in the recipe acts nicely as a seal as some rises to the top of the jar and sets on the surface.

In the dim and distant past I remember knitting a cream cotton cardigan and then deciding it was a bit boring and embroidering it with flowers.

Can you wear alpaca as opposed to ordinary wool. It is really soft and warm.

              • Thanks Snadge and MH...

oh lottie... I have my fingers and toes crossed for you!

Cotton?... I've been knitting a cotton blanket since Xmas . It's really lovely to knit with. Not keen on the colours but I may just dye it. The thread was bought from a bin end shop so I couldn't resist it.
Just thought it'd be perfect for when it's too hot for a duvet but too chilly for a sheet at night.
I bet you can find some nice colours online Snoop.

I'm off out early tomorrow. Got to get the last of the diy stuff from the specialised shop in Caen before there is a possible lockdown We got caught out last time so want to get everything.
                So ...early night then!

                See ya later peeps....

                    • Good morning.

Just put the washing out as its forecast sunshine for today.

Progressing with laying a drive at the front of the house on the cards for today.. Dog to take out first. Wellies required for that as it appears very dewy on the fields.

                      • Morning lovelies.

After my comment about knitting cotton, I did actually have a look online. And yes, I found a nice site in Spain selling all kinds of cotton for knitting. So maybe... Not sure if it'll be my autumn/winter mission for myself this year, though. Probably not. I was thinking of improving my biscuit making (I can manage tasty cookies, but stamped things for gifts... definitely not) and also my fresh pasta making. We have to eat, after all!

Hope you manage to get everything you need, Nicos. Really hoping we don't have another lockdown. Our friend up the valley was due to head back to the UK this week but has decided to stay put. There aren't many cases locally (there aren't that many people either), so we may get lucky and still be able to move around. I guess a bit will depend on how the hospital copes. No ICU and not many beds either. Fingers crossed for all of us.

Right, yet more work. Starting to feel very grateful that's the case.

Catch you later. Have a good one.

                        • Another sunny morning here, however the weather forecast, which I really should know better than to watch, says it will be the end of the warm weather. I zapped around the supermarket yesterday. I watched a man fill his trolley with bottles of bleach, clearing the shelf, and my mind boggled. What is he cleaning?
Hopefully today I can spend a lot of time at the allotment again before the Autumn weather sets in.

                          • Morning

Knitting using cotton does have a good feel to it, last thing I knitted apart from dishcloths was a babies hat and jacket but that was a few years ago now.

Good luck with your shopping Nicos hope you get all thats on your list.

                            Enjoy your day.

A few websites I visited yesterday seemed to suggest it was harder than knitting with wool. I might just have to have a rethink...
