Summat like that, yeah Just agree, with a smile, and the thing is diffused.
My eldest was getting some grief from a lad who lives round the corner about being 'fat', and it was getting him down, til I advised him to agree and then turn the tables a bit - "Yeah, I'm overweight, but I've got a paper-round, losing weight and earning money. What are you doing about being a thick b*****rd?" It took him saying it in front of the lad's mates to shut him up, but he's had no grief since then
Not that I'm saying your situation is as extreme as thatLast edited by SarzWix; 20-11-2008, 10:24 PM.

I did NVQ at work and one section was anatomy. Had an ortho nurse come in to do the teaching session. When she would ask the name of the bone, I knew the answers and would say so (did A & P as part of a GCSE and a lot of it stuck) Then she turned round and said are you the class know-it-all then?
Felt about an inch high and didn't answer another question for the rest of the session. Never felt so bad about having learned something.

[QUOTE=SarzWix;313710]I wonder why it's ok to poke fun at people for being clever, but not ok to call someone 'thick'?!
*comes over all philosophical
I don't think it is being thick, Sarah, it is just that some people have "different skills" I mean, if you locked yourself out of your car, could you get back in without breaking anything? ... no nor could I, but I know quite a few around here that could Don't be ashamed of your knowledge Piskie, it has been hard earned.

Yeah, don't hide your expertise - it's not your fault you've tried stuff!!!
Surely the others have actually grown stuff and tried stuff before??? Or are they just shy?
Or are they brand new to gardening?
I did say a few weeks back that you should be teaching the class...comment still stands!
