DIY Xmas decorations

When I was little we used to make crepe-paper streamers reaching from the light fitting in the centre of the room to various points around the picture rail. Usually 2-tone, just slices off a crepe-paper packet, then unrolled and twist 2 different colours together. The dining room had the paper chains. Most other decorations lasted for many years (in fact the old ones were treasured) so scope for new decs was limited. I made a big star for the top of the tree and that is easy. Start with cardboard, the biggest square you can get. Find the middles of the sides, and from each middle, draw lines to the 2 further corners. Cut away 8 triangles (using the lines just drawn) to leave an 8 pointed star. Cover with foil or silver (or gold) paint, and attach to tree by one of the long points.
I used to make individual Christmas cards too, but it isn't always easy getting the right size envelopes....Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

I have dozens and dozens of baubles that we did earlier this year, i always hit the pound shops just after xmas and get loads cheap.
we use craft shop glues and silver and gold paints and glitters to draw wonder 'doodle' designs on them.

Hogfather
and yes it is...... if you have sky watch out for the televised version, no where near as good as the book, but spankingly brilliant non the less. TP writes the only books that i actually laugh out loud at ( instead of grinning insanely to myself), son2 is reading his way through my collection, and is driving me mad when he does the same, cos i have to keep asking him which bit he is laughing at, then wait till he finishes it so i can re-read it, luckily he devours books nearly as fast as me.Vive Le Revolution!!!'Lets just stick it in, and see what happens?'Cigarette FREE since 07-01-09
