Is it a work thing? I'm dreading our Christmas lunch here; don’t get me wrong, I like them all but it just always feels very awkward.

+1 nothing quite beats the awkwardness of eating a meal with people from work you hardly speak to all year!

Our first one is on Dec. 5th. The Dog Club dinner and our one night out of the year!(well, almost) and I am so looking forward to it. No awkward silences, no frantically dredging your mind for a topic of conversation. Even if you sit next to people you don't know well you only have to say"What breeds have you got?" and the talk flows!.
(And the grub is lovely!!)

Well it turned out it was only 8 of us and I more or less knew everyone, we had a mixture of things very nice, and only 2 glasses of wine mixed with lemonade.

only xmas lunch i get is the one i do myself, i do miss the dinners we used to have when i was working

We went to an indian last year - very nice, but didn't feel right. Indian food with 'Rudolph the rednose reindeer' pumping out in the background - with pretend ice sprayed on the windows. Too odd!!!
