  • Advert that cannot be closed

    Hello folks,

Popped back after a little time away to find there is now an advert for soil testing running along the bottom of every page that seems to have no way of closing it. Can anyone tell me how I get rid of it?
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

If you're using a PC or laptop I suggest Adblock Plus. that's what I use.

I still get that add on my kindle fire but if I read it in portrait instead of landscape the add doesn't show.

    Hope this helps.

You need to move your mouse across it till the hand turns to an arrow. That's the sweet spot. Click there, gone! For me, it's on the left side of the centre picture.

Adverts that are hard to get rid of really irritate me. Totally puts me off buying whatever is being advertised!

Doh! Why didn't I think of that. I've found it almost impossible to make a post, as the advert takes up most of the reply box. This is the solution for me. Still mega annoying though.

                        Happy to help!

yes...it’s very annoying, but the advert is usually changed soon after the start of the month so hopefully the next one will have a close button.
We’ve not heard back from Admin but hope they will bear that in mind at the changeover....

I have Adblocker Ultimate installed and I tried the block element function.
It is a desktop computer with Linux and Firefox.
I have not seen it again.

Just popped back, first time (almost) since the new web design was implemented. And what do I get the awful bottom banner ad that partially covers the forum, with no close box! The designers continue in their attempt to drive all posters away it seems!!!

Utterly annoying that the adverts newly inserted 'close box' doesn't work. I hope GYO get paid by the click through because I wouldn't buy off the advertisers if they were the last seller of whatever they're selling, on earth!
