i had a moan to myself the first night with that one, thats 10 people in every hundred still alive, where are they all?
even on my little estate of 40 houses thats about 10 people at least.

I missed last night, but it did make me wonder , why on earth did Price take his bag of money with him? And none of them seem to have a change of underwear? (sorry to lower the tone)

I loved it and was so disappointed when I realised that the last programme really WAS the last one! They can't keep us hanging in suspenders like that! What are they going to do when they've taken some of Abby's antibodies? Will Abby find Peter? Will Nadge get more chickens and breed them? Will they find a really good allotment site with lots of lovely produce ready to be harvested? Will they get all the greenhouses and polytunnels from the garden centres so they can have stuff growing all year round? Oh so many questions! There just HAS to be another series

It became obvious part way through the last episode that they were tuning up for cliff-hangers for a new series.

Yes , but i am a trusting soul and when they said last episode i reaaly believed that there would be a denouement or closure or whatever they call it in the meedyia.
So i was like maureen left with all those questions...and the only one who seemed interested in doing the self sufficiency thing was left bleeding with shotgun wounds??

It has, it has been recommissioned. It was always setup for a couple of series, just like the original Nation version from the 70s. Survivors was filmed in Manchester!

The idea of the end of the world being muted is more accurate than bombs, we have been more than once nearly wiped out by disease, the plague, influenza (less than 100 years ago, millions died from this), and now AIDS etc but the common cold is still the major killer. Did you know the first cold you catch is the same cold you have all your life? You do not fight it off, it lies dormant until it attracts or catches a new strain, a new set of instructions and your body fights it off and back into dormancy. Most human diseases work like this, any illness you catch e.g. virus becomes part of your biology. Take the plague, no one know what it was, they know how it worked. So, that means that the plague could happen again. That's why films and TV programmes dwell on this, as in 'I am Legend' - a poor version of the book, and this is it's third outing as a film, the last version was 'The Omega Man'. It wasn't as bad as the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still - which was truly awful.
                        Best wishes

                          Andrew
The I am Legend novel may actually be on the fourth film version - there was one in the 50's (Vincent Price??), Charlton Heston inthe 70's, and Will Smith most recently - but I have seen another version late one night with Mark Dacascos which I am sure is the same story.

I like the remake of 'the day the earth stood still' it is very true to the original.
going to watch it again later.

No no not could WILL. Plague lives for ages that it why BlackHeath london has not been built on cos the Virus is still live under the ground.
There are areas in the city where you cannot dig below (I think) 8 inches again because they don't know what is down there.

Last out break of Plague was in India in 1994.

Plague is not your big killer, Antrax is worse or a Flu Pandemic not that would be fun. Estiamtes are 50% of the population would get it and of those 40% would die.

It's nothing like the original, Michael Rennie is a great actor, Keanu Reeves is a sofa. The original has closure, a real solid ending for all humanity, the new version has no ending and there is no real story, they spend most of the film in a car. Sure, the FX is great but no emotional story and it is such a cack handed response to USA vs Terrorism. I liked it for FX but it is not in anyway as good as the original.

But it was good to see Jennifer Connelly back in a leading role, she was good.
