80s Clothes

Reading SarzWix's post on the portrait thread: I think my worst fashion decision (apart from the perm!) was banana yellow leggings/baggy white shirt/banana yellow sweatshirt combo I thought I looked fab


Reminded me of an amost identical outfit that I wore to a wedding What was I (not) thinking? Banana yellow leggings with matching 4 inch stilletoes. Electric blue man's shirt over the top, wide yellow belt on hips, Billy Idol haircut, eyeshadow that was strips of neon pink, yellow and blue, blue lipstick, and no coat
(cos it was not cool to wear a coat. Or socks/tights even in snow. I once got frostbite in my little toe)

I used to wear - for real - a pair of my auntie's friends old [actual] boomers, with pixie boots and my grandad's old shirt, an old cloth cap and as much make up as it was possible to smear on one face.

Aah, the 80s. I didn't have a perm until later on. I can't even describe what I used to wear during the late 80s. I don't think words exist...let alone zwinkys!

I worshipped 80's Madonna, and my mother was a little horrified when I skipped out of the door wearing a long black tutu, little boots and lacy gloves. My hair didn't need the perm as it's very curly anyway, but at our school, the cool make-up to be seen in was very heavy eyebrows; heart failure lipstick or brilliant red, and blue eyeliner. All Rimmel, natch.

My older sis was a classic 80's chick with the neon eyeshadow, matching her leggings to her earrings/bangles/hairband etc. I used to think she looked sooo cool...

I also went through a bit of a Victorian gothic stage, with sweeping gowns and a cloak... nice...

I'd forgotten about Twighlight Teaser til I read that
About 1987 I got heavily into Rock/Glam Rock/Heavy Metal, so my 'fashion' sense went totally out of the window... Skin tight jeans, black cowboy boots with jingly bits, skimpy tops, tons of scarves tied to jingly belts, tasseled leather jacket, HUGE hair, eyeliner drawn in squirls down my cheeks
I don't think there are any photos in existence though as I was forbidden to wear any of this stuff, or make-up, (stoopid church ) so I had to get changed at my friend's house before we went out!

I think my worst 80's thing was dying my hair blue/black and having the sides bleached pure white - was known as badger head for a while,

worst fashion - burgundy cords and legwarmers and suede pixie boots.

A white ruffled shirt, (circa Adam and the Ants). My mum made me wear a vest under it! A vest I ask you!!!

Used to hide in the phone box to remove the vest, promptly froze

My worst outfit was even before the 80's My sister got engaged in the late 60's and I had a baby pink crimpolene suit, the skirt was eleasticated and the jacket was fitted at the waist. I thought I was the bee's knees in it with my pigtails, that is till I wore it to a village disco and travelled on the bus to get there wearing this suit along with ----- red tights !!!! The skirt was so big Iam sure it woud fit me now 40 odd years later !!!

I was a weight training instructor in the 80's - we (no, I) used to wear Reebox boots (before the Chavs got hold of them!) ....one red boot on one foot, one white on the other ....with corresponding socks ....I looked like a draught board but I thought I looked sooo cool ...hehehe

I was aged 25 in 1980 and by 1987 I had four boys ( the first born 1979 ) I remember having my hair permed at one stage but I cant remember much about the clothes I wore, was that when Dallas was on the telly and everyone was wearing shoulder pads ? if thats the case then thats what I was wearing.

I think I know the ones you mean (goes for a quick google), and I remember wanting a pair having seen them on a movie poster - I forget the film now, but I always wanted a pair of Reebok boots. I also wanted a pair of pixie boots.

Don't think I ever had any particular howlers though - I was never really fashioable enough.

yep - they is the very boots, I have a fair few pairs, but then it was my day job!

It was boxer boots at my school.

I had a real thing about spiky hair, and because we couldn't afford hair gel I would spike it up with soap (just rub it in the roots and blow dry it).

For hair dye .. food colouring worked, but only on dry days
