You can time your eBay auction to finish on a day that suits you. I don't have a car, so I have to walk a 5 mile round trip to my nearest post office, it's a right pain. I can't carry a lot, so I only sell a couple of things at a time, but slow & steady does it.

I used to sell books on eBay and intend starting again soon. It can be quite lucrative.
I used to make about £1000 a year.........enough to pay for our summer holiday at least!
Photographs are what sell items so make sure you have good piccies. I've just bought a scanner off eBay with Z technology (lid is expandable allowing thick items to be scanned ie books) and intend trying using this.
If it works I'll be back on selling again soon.
Bought yet another camera but it's got too many knobs and bells on it and takes crap photos's.

Good luck with your eBay selling Lynda...............just remember loads of people make a respectable living from it!

books, CDs and DVDs all have a EAN code, or ISBN on the barcode. Enter this into Turbo Lister (a free eBay tool) and it automatically fills in a photo, and product information for you. No scanner or camera required

edit: I only sell "as new" items, so condition isn't an issue for me. If you have damage or they're old items, you'd still want to post a photo of your item.

Didn't realise that....used to use Turbo Lister a long time ago........about three computer upgrades methinks. I'll have to install it on this one and give it a try.

Barcodes?? what are those anyway?...........Most of the books I sell were printed long before bar codes were heard of!

I see where you're coming from though,but it's nice to be able to show people the condition of the actual book on sale, do you not think?!

Gotta agree with you Snadger, I really want to see the condition of the book I'm buying, even if its only a fiction paperback.

i used to run a business on ebay many moons ago, when it was all free and stuff (1998-2004) (no problem hijacking, it's much more interestinf than stables unless theres a pony in it ) my parents were good at buying crap to make a profit as their hobby was going round junk shops and car boot sales .... and it was more fun for them if they could buy stuff lol ...... then they bogged off to live in spain ...... twosheds, the nearest post office and easiest one for me to get to is in the town centre, just some days i can't walk that far ........ and i've slowly been sorting stuff, it's just the motivation ....... i have got my shopping trolley, to take stuff in, but my main problem is sometimes i can't manage the stairs, let alone the walk to town lol ....... if i can time everything to end so everyone pays and i can post on a saturday, Rob can take them while he's at work. i just need a kick up the bum.

I think you're overwhelmed with stuff and don't know where to start.
It's easy to say it, harder to do it. Make lists, prioritise each day, tick off as you go.
I'm going to stop giving unsolicited advice now

Lynda I have been EXACTLY there, and what you need is someone who believes you can get out of it. I had a few months when the only reason I got out of bed was animals that HAD to be fed. Then someone (a neighbour) showed that he believed I could beat it, and just to avoid disappointing him, I DID!

It isn't as effective at long range by computer, but then you haven't just got ONE neighbour, you've got the whole Grapevine!

I've been in your position Huney and it's like being backed into a corner, as OH said at the time " I don't want any luck as it's all bad" We lost our house , but from being bitter and twisted and making myself ill , I've come out the other side. No it's not easy, I know what it's like to dread the sound of the post arriving, but the CAB were wonderful. I've just done a reading for you with my Angel cards, and there is light at the end of the tunnel and you WILL come through this, and you will be happy again. well i've made a start on one of my lists ....... i've just been out and planted my raspberry plants and strawberries in the polytunnel, not bad they've only been here a week or so lol ........ it did serve 2 purposes, one was they got planted and 2 the digging got me nice and warm ..... warmest i've been all day ....... and now i'm gonna make a stew with the veggies i just pulled up ...... thanks cupcake ...... i knew i must be due some good stuff ........ oh and while i was out there, i liberated some metal roofing sheet, with attached insulation, that will just fit the nest box of the chicken house ...... so at least that bit will be warm

I'm listening to R4 at the mo, and the story of a woman (and her 2 kids) who were to be evicted by their mortgage lender (HBoS)
The woman had been in steady employment for 23 years with .... HBoS.
They refused to accept her offers of repayments, and were pushing aggressively for repossession of her home.
They were contacted by R4 and told the presenter that the woman had been hard to contact (she worked for them - hello?) and had never offered any repayment agreement (she did, and it was on court record)
So HBoS were exposed as not only callous, but liars too. And she still has to work for them!
