i got mine reposessed in 1994 by nat west, they were the same, despite the fact i was at uni, and working all the hours there were spare in a day, and that the complications(family credit/csa) would be sorted in 6 months and i could catch up, they reposessed 2 weeks before i had the money to pay off all the arrears...... when they have decided they are going to reposess, theres virtually nothing you can do to stop it ....... banks don't listen at all ........ which is one reason i'm glad i rent now, at least theres a chance of sorting things out, and they won't evict you until it's a last resort.

so will you - sort it out before they evict you? Forgive me, I've been away for a couple days and trying to catch up on all that has gone on

What a sad state of affairs Lynda.
I used to work for the CAB and saw this stuff all the time.
Open all those envelopes and sort it all out.
Go to the CAB as soon as possible.
Tell them the whole truth about everything (it is strictly private and confidential)
They will help you to sort everything out and do a benefits check for you to make sure you are getting everything you are entitled to.

When you go to the CAB go at opening time so that you won't be in a queue.
After your first visit (for which you can't get an appointment) they will give you appointments for follow up meetings.
It will all get sorted out Lynda, but you have to take the first step.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

good girl, one at a time, then it seems less of a mountain, and housing is the first people to get onside, as long as they know you are in trouble, not just avoiding paying, companies are more often than not really willing to help....british gas aside of course who suck!

dunno about leccy, I am with EDF and they have already told me to get back in touch if it becomes too much of a struggle, and they will devise a new payment plan, its just that both they and I want BG's 'mistake' cleared up as soon as possible so as to get me back to what i SHOULD be paying monthly.I honestly can't fault EDF, they have been brilliant since i first switched to them. In fact i never knew about the social tarrif until they told me, and switched me to it saving me 15% a month.

Sorry to hear your problems Having been in a similar position myself, with long-term unemployment, depression, and done battle with the system over income support and other benefits, I can sympathise. There are people who can help, like the CAB; or is there register of voluntary organisations or charities near you?We found one that specialised in dealing with DHSS and other benefits, and they were excellent ( sadly packed up now)

Is Rob your son? Don't be embarrassed at being helped by him Presumably he must be a fairly capable and intelligent young man to be at university You've spent lots of time, money and energy bringing him up, now it's his turn to help - that's what family life is all about

Best wishes, let us all know how you get on Geoff

thanks Geoff..... yes Rob's my son, i know he will help where he can, just the last thing i want is for him to leave behind the fun he's having to come home to look after his mum lol ....... and i don't want him skinting himself either cos i know he will cos he knows how hard things are at the moment ....... i'm always honest with him, and if i'm desperate he will help, cos he's a good boy ....... and mummys ikkle soldier lol

One thing you MIGHT let Rob do is a bit of gentle nagging. Once you have the phone back, he could phone you as often as he is able and ask what you got done off the list today. Not easy (for either of you) but perhaps the biggest non-financial help he can be to you from a distance. When depression/panic is stopping you from getting on with what you KNOW needs doing, a reminder, and sometimes a little telling off, can make all the difference.
