    Good morning all.

Nicos, a Milka advent calender 😋. Yum, Yum. I haven't had any Milka chocolate for years. I haven't bought any chocolate for weeks as I'm slowly working my way through my two big bags bags of miniature Mars and Snickers bars.

We've got rain here too, but sunny intervals forecast for later.

I doubt that I'll go out today as I'm sure the traffic will be absolutely horrendous and I don't need anything.

Maybe I'll get round to the second batch of Christmas puddings later, and possibly something nice for my brother in law who has eaten all his fruitcake.🐷 The next time I see him I'll ask if he wants to come for Christmas Dinner this year, and if so, if he's got any special requests.

Mr GF is still in bed. I haven't been up too long. I turned the thermostat up at 8 am and decided to have an extra "ten" minutes, which became an hour and a half.

My latest kitchen gadget, the probe thermometer, proved it's worth yesterday. All I'd used it for up the then was to check the internal temperature of the Christmas cakes. I was roasting a supermarket chicken, the ones where the timing/temperature is written on the bag. Normally I just follow the instuctions unthinkingly, but the chicken looked perfect 25 minutes before it's time was up. I checked it with the probe in several places. It was well above the necessary internal temperature. Out it came. It was the moistest chicken I've had in a long time. The downside? As it was sitting resting in the kitchen for a while, a lot of it's perfectly crispy skin just "disappeared". And I wonder why I don't lose weight!🐷

I'm still struggling with ideas for my last few Christmas presents. I find men easier to buy for than women in general.

I think I'll have more coffee now.

    Morning all.

One of those thin blue wintry skies outside. Will need to top up the indoor firewood supplies - looks like we've got a week or so of very cold windy days.
Loads to do today, so better get a move on.

    Have a great day, everyone.

    Morning

Rain here as well Flo not that it matters I'd not planned going out.

Chocolate for breakfast Nicos the only problem with sourdough is that it gets eaten much quicker than a ordinary loaf.

    enjoy your Sunday

    Morning Nicos and all.

Yes please Nicos, I'm ready for another cuppa. I was out of bed early to set the breadmaker off making French bread dough as it takes three and a half hours. The machine has a timer to make and bake, but not for dough and I want rolls, not a loaf.

More domestics for me today as I want to think about getting the Xmas things out of the garage mezzanine at some point this week, so want the house clean and tidy in preparation for putting things up.

Thank you Rary...its good to be reminded to count our blessings even in the middle of turmoil.
I can see where you are coming from and I will take it on board.

I am sure you miss your sisters, but like you say, we all remember the good times.
We always remember St. Andrew's day as our eldest grandson is called Andrew.

    Have a peaceful night all.

Good afternoon folks, a dull but mild day today with a temperature of 13c, was out at a St. Andrews night last night and such an enjoyable night it was, and was home and into bed for 12.30 and slept till 8.30 this morning and before you ask as I was driving I only had a glass of irn brew, gave OH a hand to clean the bathroom earlier, as she is unable to stand too long there were some things (other than me) that were beginning to annoy her, so have earned some brownie points😇 I asked if I,was going to get payment and she said she would see me later, I hadnt realised her glasses were dirty, if she had cleaned them earlier it could have saved me some work😕. Now going to prepare for a reading tomorrow, and have just realised that its one of the books of the bible with a name nowadays that is pronounced differently from when I learned all the names of the books of the bible when I was young, and no it wasnt that long ago before you think that😏 have others noted how the pronunciation of some word have been changed recently, the one that really gets me is contributed, the pronunciation by people on the likes of the telly is completely different from when I was taught the word, why and who decides to change the pronunciation of words now a days, moan over , have a good day and find something to smile about🙂🙂🙂

bramble looking at that quote and reading the one you have posted today, I can understand why you think there is norhing to smile about but just think on the friends and family you have, even the ones you have lost and I am quite sure you will think on plenty of things to smile about, I was out last night and met someone who I hadnt seen for several years, and was asked how my sisters were getting on, on informing him that I had lost both of them we started reminiscing of the fun times I had with them, and i couldn't recall aby time I was angry with them, though no doubt there would be several, but they are all forgotten, it is also worth remembering or looking up the poem 1batfasterd was refering to the other day, it is so true so I do hope you find something to lift you up and smile. God bless
