Good morning, cold and cloudy, central heating actually came on this morning, it was set at 15°c. Taking OH out for a coffee shortly, she wants to spend some money on me🙄 I suppose I better check under the mattress for paper £20 notes, as if I would have any £20 notes 😒, hope you have good day, and even if you don't feel like it, smile it will help you and othersLast edited by rary; 17-09-2022, 09:41 AM.it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Morning all. Sunny here too though a cold night, down to 4.3C in the garden.
Nicos, if you belatedly find more withdrawn notes and don't have a UK bank account, you can post them to the Bank of England and they will exchange them.Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
Endless wonder.

Mornin n’alln’all
Emergency averted Rary…I just checked and I’ve not got any paper ones after all!
Anyway…it’s a timely reminder to everyone else to have a check in old handbags etc/ under your mattress or floorboards….
Before I sold my car I did find lots of loose change - but no notes In the olden days I always kept £10 or £20 ‘mad money’ hidden in the glove compartment in case of an emergency eg almost out of petrol or not got my purse with me and had an impulse purchase.
Looks like OH must have found it years ago!
I did at first leave 20€ in my glove compartment for the same reason - until OH said it might be seen as a police bribe ( we have to keep all registration documents in the car)
A lot of shall be spent ironing I’ll have a whole load more to add to the pile tomorrow so I need to at least try and get through a load of what’s there .
Last night I used my hot water bottle (HWB) for the first time in months ( apart from putting in cold water) and slept better for it.
Anyone got their heating on yet? I was tempted last night but will hold out a bit longer.
Brew time over…best crack on….
Enjoy your day peeps."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Well, we went from tooth fairy to police bribe in next to no time! What a grand bunch we are.
Anyway, morning all.
Slowish start to the day for me. Quite chilly, but nowhere near as cold as where some of you are. We put our winter quilt on the bed a few days back but no need for the heating or hot water bottles. Must get firewood sorted. I keep thinking about it, but never at the right time to call people. I'd write a note for myself but worry that if I can't remember to do one thing, it's a bad sign...
Anyway, a bit of baking,a bit of gardening and a bit of paid work on the cards for me today. I'll resist an afternoon nap. Mr Snoop has been struggling with insomnia recently and caved in and had a sleeping pill last night and did actually sleep. Phew.
Have a great day, everyone. Give the smiles a wave for me if you see them fly by.

Good morning all,
The sun is out but it's just 10 degs.
The temp dropped to 6 overnight.
No heating on yet, we are determined to see out September without it,
We did put away the summer sleepwear and added a heavier duvet to our bed.
Nicos, we always keep €20 in the car, just IB case.
We also keep the breakdown service number as well.
I keep €20 note tucked into the back of my phone.
No plans for the day, I may go out walking.
Have a good Saturday,
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Morning all. I have to admit that I have had the central heating on for an hour each day for the last couple of days. It must be cooler as Mr GF pinched all the quilt last night. I'll root out the hot water bottles later. They're quite ancient so maybe I'll treat us to new ones before we end up with a flood. Just thinking maybe buy some for Christmas presents and make some personalised covers for them.
I always used to keep emergency money in the car, but I haven't since we changed the car last year. I used to tuck it into the sun visor. I do keep a couple of £10 notes in my phone though.

After I'd been on here earlier I decided to have a look at hot water bottles. I did say mine were ancient so obviously a good few years since I have even thought about them. So much choice and variety. I decided I fancied one of the long ones after reading the feedback. In the end I ordered 2 from Dunelm on click and collect. 15 minutes later I got a text to say they were ready to collect. As the store is in a retail park outside the city centre I went straight down there, gave my order number to the young man by the door and got them immediately, completely bypassing the queues and tills. I'll try them out tonight and then maybe order more for presents. I intend being organised this year but then again I probably think the same every year. I MUST MUST, MUST order some pudding basins soon.

Ironing all gone !…yippee!….well, until tomorrow at least
Not heard of long hot water bottles gf…just had a look and quite fancy the brown teddy fur one. Do let us know how you get on with it!
All windfalls now cooked and cooling ready for freezing. It’s been a. Good day domestic goddess-wise
Cant motivate myself today to pick blackberries but I might just spend 1/2 hr weeding in front of the front door before sticking the kettle on again.
Its actually nice and sunny outside at the moment…."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Good evening all.
GF, you have just had me curious about long hot water bottles
They appear to be very popular, just mentioned Tommy hubby and we will be investing.
Went walking in a different direction this afternoon and came home with a bag of blackberries, just over 3 lbs.
Looks like the jam saucepan will be coming out again.
Nicos, I have a pile of ironing, waiting to do it on a wet day.
Take care all and have a good night,
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Just reading some of the posts above gives me info to note for the future, once I get old might consider getting a heavier blanket along with a long hot water bottle, at the moment there is nothing like that required 😁
While out this morning I decided to have a breakfast, don't do that very often, actually taking everything that I had it was quite good value for money, after that we went to collect a certificate or something, for my sons dog, then dropped into a garage to have a look at some cars, I'm thinking of getting a new one, which hopefully would do us till I stop driving, there were a couple that I thought were worth considering, but will think on it. Once back home I emptied my wormery, and have now got a tub full of vermicompost, I will see how it keeps over winter, while out in the garden I checked the overnight temperature and it showed a low of 5°c, so definitely getting a lot colder. Now going to work for a bit on a jigsaw, it is one that my son got made showing the two younger grandsons with OH and myself, occasionally folk in the past have remarked about the size of my hands which I have always assumed were normal, but looking at the jigsaw they do seem big, which of course is handy when you are offered a hand full of sweets or similar 😊😊😊it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
