Poor Hibou is desperate to go out but we have huntsmen and dogs in the field just beyond our garden/field.
Lots of horn blowing going on, dogs barking and blokes shouting.
It’ll either be a wild boar or a deer. Poor thing must be so frightened."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Indeed they are Bren.
We had Whitney crab sandwiches many years ago in Whitney …and they were just superb!
( being a northerner…a thicker slab of bread and butter making them into proper butties though would have been utterly perfect! )Last edited by Nicos; 14-11-2021, 06:21 PM."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

That’s just reminded me of several childhood experiences !
my parents had a tiny caravan and we used to spend many weekends near Blackpool on a farm ….sometimes when it was raining we used to go to Blackpool and sit in the car on the seafront watching the rain and the tumbling sea …and munching our way through fish and chips
The car windows always steamed up ….but what a fantastic memory! I can still smell that salty vinegar!
Thanks for that !"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Good evening, just letting my tea settle as its too windy to be going out, nothing much done today after church was going to go out to the garden for a bit, but our daughter came in with the two dogs, so they had to be washed down and dried off and once she was going the rain had started, so just sitting reading, though she left Daisy with us to give her a rest from the pup, I cooked chicken breasts for tea and tried making a sauce with wine, mustard and honey, wasn't bad but think I should have added a pinch of salt. Oh and Snoop I will as reading the introductory thread from Iris and I am still trying to work out what you meant in your post, I like puzzling things out but might have to come back to you for an explanationright need to go as OH wants me just now, and yes I have a big smile on my face, and happy to pass it onit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

last night after we had unpacked. Fish and chips and a cup of tea they were superb. Fish was firm, meaty and sweet. Batter light and crisp and the chips perfect.
I’ll post some others tomorrow hopefully

Why do fish and chips always taste so much better at the seaside? Whitby fish and chips would be my first choice if you can keep the gulls away. My grandad used to take me to Scarborough occasionally when I was very young and he used to put a primus stove in the car boot, park on the marine drive and cook sausages and brew tea.....and yes it usually rained.

Fish and chips from Seahouses would be my first choice. Ideally from Moles, but that would involve time travel too. Goodness, but they were good, sitting on the harbour wall, swinging my legs, me and one of my brothers humming away with pleasure!
Anyway, that was one action-packed weekend, but we're both going to be a bit watchful for health issues over the next couple of weeks. Our first visitors that we've socialised indoors with since December 2019, when they were last here. Taught a sixteen-year-old lad to bake bread and he went back home with his first loaf. So that's a life skill learned and something he's determined to teach his mum.
An absolute ton of work to get through over the next few days, which is good news in some respects.
The smiles got a bit worn out this weekend. Not used to being so busy! By the sound of it, Rary kept you all well supplied. The ones here enjoyed a good kip last night and it's a nice bright day, so they're ready for the off. Should be with you in next to no time.
Have a great day, everyone.
