  • Morning

Grory hop here as well MF we're taking the car instead of walking in the wet with my trolly, as odd as it sounds it can take longer to get there in the car.
After that I'm baking a couple of loaves and some bread cobs. No gardening today.

    • Good morning all and it's cool and dry morning.
A trip to the dry cleaners and then off for a walk.
I am starting to do some Christmas gift shopping now I have a list.
      Have a good day all,

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

      • Good morning. A great night's sleep eventually. I dropped to sleep to the sound of pouring rain and awoke to the same, no idea of it has paused inbetween.

Mothhawk I do make my own biscuits, particularly ginger biscuits on occasion, and it is fatal for my waistline. I can quite happily ignore shop bought ones these days but not my own. Somewhere I've got an old, 1950s, W.I. recipe book that I bought in a charity shop or at a car boot sale. It has a big biscuit section which a previous owner had obviously used a lot and added his/her own notes on the results and possible improvements. In the days when I could eat like a horse and not put weight on I worked my way through it.

Chocolate however is a different story...I have never been able to ignore it..... my mother had a corner shop when I was young. If I know there is no chocolate in the house I want some. In my younger days when I lived alone and had run out I have been known to make chocolate cakes in the middle of the night or on one memorable snowy night, profiteroles filled with whipped cream with hot chocolate sauce. Both recipes only needed cocoa powder.

I never knew that B.S.E was still around. That thought is indeed scary as a beef, cheese and milk lover.

I’m the opposite with sweets and chocolate as a kid mum worked in a sweet factory bringing home bags of them on Fridays from the factory shop. By the time I was a teenager I just wasn’t interested in them at all.
These days I don’t eat chocolate but I do have a mint or Jackmans every now and then.

It’s not stopped raining here yet today, nothing done in the garden apart from getting some lettuce from the GH.
I’ve been knitting nothing exciting just dishcloths.

          • Afternoon all.

Well, I went looking for info on BSE after your comment, mothhawk. I too just assumed it had been eradicated, but clearly not.

A bit of sunshine at the moment here. I've seen the UK weather news. Not looking so good for lots of you there. Our JCB man is coming soon for a recce, so will be interesting to hear what he has to say about possible repairs and improvements. Mr Snoop has been sorting out pumps again. So fingers crossed, with all their efforts, we'll be better prepared still for the next time.

            Have a nice evening, everyone.

Just having a cuppa, then I'm going to crack on with making some more piccalilli as the first lot I made has almost gone. The veg have been salted overnight, so all ready to go. I'm also having a go at sweet cucumber relish for the first time. I like these recipes because they don't need cooking for hours like pickles do, so the cooking odours don't fumigate the whole house

Glad everything's under control, Snoop, and you've a bit of sun to dry things out.

Hair cut this morning then a few things to drop of at the charity shop.

Snoop crossing my finger everything works out fine for you.

Both metoffice and BBC give different predictions for today weather so its anyones guess.

                enjoy your day

                • Morning all.

Mr Snoop has a doctor's visit this morning and I'm heading in to the village with him. Bit of work to do before and after then. Then more tidying up.

The clouds look a bit threatening, but no rain forecast. Hope you're all coping in your weather conditions. The JCB man is hard at work down the valley. I think he'll be dropping in to see us a bit later on but could be a while before anything can actually happen here.

The smiles have been coming back in dribs and drabs, but they're looking pretty bedraggled. Might be time to start the fire in the bedroom to cheer them up a bit.

                  Have a great day, everyone.

Bright and breezy here but the sun is shining,
The laundry is out from early..

Snoop, hope things return to normal for you soon and no more rain for a while,
A trip to the supermarket and the hardware store on the cards this morning,
Hope to do some weeding this afternoon.

                    • Mornin n’alln’all

A quick check in from chilly Yorkshire. By heck there’s been a lot of flooding en route!

I got daffs at Wilco for half price! Feeling very chuffed
Quick grory hop then granddaughter and daughter arriving for 3 days. It’s lovely having all the family together again

I had no idea about BSE. Did you know that the French refuse to take donor blood from Brits who were around during the 80’s because of that very reason. Seems a bit bizzare ….if I was going to develop it I’d of had symptoms by now surely?

Best head off now - glad you are ok Snoop….of and a huuuuge oacjet of Maltesers jumped into my trolly yesterday Those and mint imperials were my grannie’s favourite and I always think of her when I pop a few maltesers in my mouth.

                      Keep safe and healthy everyone..x

                      • Damp, gloomy and grey clouds here but at least it has stopped raining. It's quite windy so I've got a load of towels in the washer in the hope that I can get them at least partially dry outdoors. The latest forecast seems to be that we will escape the frost that the weatherman was was muttering about earlier in the week but get yet more rain instead. I suppose we should be grateful it won't be snow. (Famous last words ).

A fire in the bedroom Snoop sounds wonderfully comforting.

I hope your sweet cucumber relish is a success Mothawk. It is one of my favourites.

Although it feels more like evening with the curtains closed.
I bought a pretty summer dress at the charity shop not that I’ll be wearing it for months, but if we have another hot summer it will be handy.
Cooked another batch of apple purée in the slow cooker today seeing as there’s space in the freezer.
Not achieved much else today but I did knit another dishcloth.
                          Enjoy your holls Nicos.

                          • Morning all.
Where is everyone? I've been making enough noise in the kitchen to get you all out of bed, even if the smell of toast didn't entice you.
It feels much colder today, there was no frost but it certainly felt cold enough for one.
The cucumber relish looks good, GF. Got to let it mature now, so it should be ready just in time for Christmas. Family may get some as extra gifts

What do you do with all the apple purée, Bren? How do you use it?

                            • Morning all. Morning, mothhawk.

Very chilly wind out there at the moment. Looks like it'll stay the same for the next few days. Rain forecast for Monday and Tuesday, but not much. The dirt tracks are drying out. Had to go out yesterday afternoon for my Covid and flu jabs and I was surprised how well the mud was drying up. Lots of very deep ruts, though, that won't do well next time we get heavy rain.

No serious after effects after the jabs. Including the flu one, which I had a terrible reaction to last year. Phew.

Got tidying and more mud clearance to do this weekend for visitors coming at the end of the week, so better get a move on with that.

                              Have a great day, everyone.

                              • Good morning.

I kept ignoring the noise in the kitchen this morning Mothawk because I slept badly and I could see that the weather was miserable. I put towels out in the wind yesterday but I don't think they got any drier out there. A little glimpse of the sun would be nice.

Mr GF is watching James Martin on TV so I'm half expecting some kind of request eventually. My sister makes mountains of my apples into puree and eats it all year (on good years) with yoghurt for breakfast.

I've got a good idea of what we're doing today but I don't want to jinx things by saying everything.
