Himself is the cornetto fan here and he's very partial to a flake ice cream so there are always some in the freezer. I had a solero last night for a change - who needs hot weather?!
I'm going to have a rest now, my hip has started playing silly beggarsGranny on the Game in Sheffield

Morning all.
I intended potting up some flower seedlings yesterday, to which end I bought some New H0rizon all plant compost on Wednesday and kept it in the kitchen so it would warm a little. When I opened the bag yesterday though, a cloud of fungus gnats flew out. I was so mad. Not only was the compost unusable for the seedlings, but now I also have fungus gnats flitting round the kitchen and getting in my house plants.
It's the first time I've bought this stuff, I wanted to try it as it's peat-free, usually I use John Innes composts. I shan't be buying it again. Fortunately it was a small 10 litre bag. It'll get chucked on the garden as mulch.Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
Endless wonder.

Morning
That is frustrating mothhawk any chance you could return it because there could be an issue with the whole batch.
Rain here all day today so I'll tidy my GH lettuce plants and give some plant labels I found in the veg beds a bit of a sandpaper to clean them up.
Enjoy your dayLocation....East Midlands.

Morning all.
That's really frustrating, mothhawk. Mr Snoop bought me a big bag of compost the other day for seedlings. I'm afraid peat-free compost is next to unknown here. I tried a bag I managed to find and it was barely rotted-down twigs and frayed plastic twine, totally unsuited to seedlings and no good for the garden at all given all the plastic. Well done you for trying it, but sorry it has turned out badly.
Weather fine again here this morning, but very chilly, not far off a frost. Will be trying to cut down on work this week at least one day. Long daylight hours (so lots of solar power) plus cooler temperatures make this a good time to give the freezer a sort out.
But on the cards for today, a mini grory hop then a bit of work and then a bit of play outdoors with my seeds and scythe. The grass is growing apace and I haven't been keeping up. Could do with the exercise too. Too much sitting at the computer these last few months.
Have a great day everyone.

Morning all, sorry to hear about the compost MH. If you can’t take it back like Bren suggests, maybe there’s an email address on the packaging that you can contact the company on?
After a very wet night and damp morning, the rain has stopped, how long for is anyone’s guess. Didn’t manage out for a walk yesterday but definitely have to get out today, going bananas sitting in.
Have a fab day everyone and Snoop, don’t work too hard!sigpic

Those sausage rolls sound brill, Flo.
And no probs, LD. You just keep my email address should you ever need it.
Weirdly, the email address hasn't been spammed. I expected it would be seeing as it's there for everyone and their bot to see. Rary would doubtless have something to say about that last remark!

Afternoon n
no peat free compost here either MH… well..I’ve never seen any and always ask
We had really heavy rain over night , then clear skies - so we’ve grabbed the moment to get on with more gardening before the impending rain clouds reach us.
Time for a quick brew later.
Love the idea of those sausage rolls Flo!"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
