  • Scorching hot here. I've had to come inside for a bit, it was too hot for the Kindle!

    • Afternoon all.

Too hot for me outside. It's making the greenfly multiply like crazy and no sign of ladybird larvae anywhere

Whisky Galore! was on TV here yesterday. The version with Eddie Izzard. I'd forgotten how funny it was.

        • ^^^ nice one there MH !

I’ll watch it tomorrow - thanks.

Things went a tad awry today. Sorting out bed linen I’d spotted a mouse had been nesting in one of the towels. Everything else looks absolutely fine - but it’s all being rewashed…and guess what? ….yup…re- ironed that’s on top of what I already haven’t done.
If you don’t see me for the next three weeks you’ll know where I am and what I’ll be doing. Most disheartening to say the least

Well, that’s my 500 metre moan for today….just got to keep positive eh?

The upside is that the sun is shining and we can go ahead with a bbq…yippee!
Can anyone spare an ice cream?…pretty please? Have to say gf….those lollies look rather yummy!

When we were in England we walked around a lake in a nature reserve and there was a small children’s play area - and an ice cream van. Not seen one of those for years. I was sorely tempted to buy a 99 but remembered the last time that it tasted a bit plastic…then eyed up the magnums…flippin ‘eck….£2.90 each - almost £18 for 6 …nope. Not at that price! Couldn’t believe the queues of people happy to pay out that sort of money. Glad for the vendor of course.

Time to do another washer load….

          • We watched Whisky Galore last night.....again. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Most remakes don't do it for me but that and the remake of the Thomas Crown Affair are the exceptions to the rule.

Nicos, you have my absolute sympathy. The mere thought of a mouse in my towels would put me into full scale rodent murder zone. I am petrified of the little *******s and when the fight or flight choice comes up fight is my preferred choice (preferably carried out by Mr GF).

8 hours of ironing sounds akin to a life sentence! Aaaarrrrggghhhhh!!!

              • So, basically, three lots of bedding for each bed equal to 12 single beds’ cotton sheets with duvet covers and 3 double beds sheets with duvet covers…. All needing ironing . Pah and pah . At least most of them are now washed and line dried.
It was a brill drying day tbh. Towels all washed, partly line dried then fluffed up in the tumble drier. They are still both working now as I go to bed. 10 hrs of both toiling away! Thank goodness for modern technology and a warm drying day eh?

I’m guessing it was a mouse Hibou brought in and released, and then lost. I also found a chewed linen dress, a couple of linen cardies and some chewed merino wool scarves as well as a chewed bed throw which I will wash, cut down and chuck out the damaged section ( very much beyond repair) Oh well, country living isn’t always as wonderful as imagined …

Early night for me - as soon as the machines have finished. Sleep well peeps…see you in the morn!

                • Mornin n’alln’all

Cloudy start to the day, and it looks like we had more rain during the night.
                  More domestics for me today

First things first though…anyone fancy a brew?

                  • Morning Nicos and all.

We had a lot of distant rumbling thunder yesterday evening, but only a bare spatter of rain, not enough to lay the dust or wet under plants. It's made the air a bit fresher though.

Thanks for the brew, Nicos, I was just ready for a cuppa. It tastes so much better when made by someone else

                    • Good morning.

I've been awake half the night but eventually gave on and got up about an hour ago. We were forecast 87% chance of a storm yesterday. No! We were obviously in the remaining 13%. It is hot and sticky already this morning. I shall be skulking in the shade as much as possible today.

And folk think we are mean!
Nicos I have found the best thing to do when going to these places, is just go with OH, that way you only need to buy 2, or if you are in a larger group toss a coin to see who is going to pay, I keep a double headed penny just for such occasions, I have had it for a good number of years, it cost a fortune when I bought it, but over the years I have recouped the two shillings it cost me

You can't beat an ice cream in this hot weather there's a shop not far from us that makes its own ice cream its delicious, they also send vans and kiosks out.
No rain here yet but i did hear distant thunder yesterday evening.

                            Enjoy your day.

                              • Good afternoon, warm and sunny today, have been out in the garden most of the day but getting a bit warm just now so stopped for a breather, large cloud formations over to the east of here so a possibility of thunder if they come this way, Bren I used the last of my cabbages that I had grown over winter in the greenhouse yesterday, it was tasty and clean with no slug damage whatsoever, but doubt if I will grow them again unless I can get some garunteed to remain small, which i think would mean going for an F1 variety which I am trying to avoid, but will see what turns up in the next couple of months, right that's the rest over time to get back out
