  • rary, don't leave it so late there's nothing that can be done. I know whereof I speak, not from personal experience, but a close relative who would not be in the position she's in now if she had had an ankle injury sorted after an accident rather than just soldiering on. Here endeth the lesson.

I had a very positive outing and bought an ambitious amount of plug plants at the nursery. No idea if some of them will come to anything, but I got carried away. No kale, I'm afraid, Bren In Pots. They only had the curly green stuff and Mr Snoop isn't keen on that. According to the girl behind the counter, it's the right time of year for everything I bought. But when I told her which village I live in, I could see she thought that maybe some of her recommendations were a bit rash. We're only 40 km north-east from the nursery, but temperatures are quite a bit cooler, especially in our valley. Be interesting to see if I actually get to pick any Brussels sprouts...

    Have a great evening, everyone.

    • Good evening all.
Spent part of the afternoon in the greenhouse. Cutting off some yellow withered leaves from the tomatoes.
It them started to rain so I did some ironing.
I have started sorting out our clothes for the holidays, we will be going off on Monday.

Rary, take it easy, its always difficult working above your head.
I used do all the home decorating but wouldnt do the ceilings any more.

Snoop, I hope you have some success with your bedding plants.
      Have a good evening all.

        • Mornin n’alln’all
          Dark innit?

Yesterdays lunch was fantastic- finally setting off home at 7pm…..and it was 21C. Hadn’t realised how late it was, probably because it was so sunny and didn’t get chill and damp as the afternoon ended.
My sticky cake went down really well. Very rich of course so it was only a small piece each- so the rest went into their freezer ,cut into cubes. I’ll find the recipe later….
Rary - go and get your hands checked out- don’t mess with nerves- they need treating with respect….seriously x

Great news about those plants Snoop . I have to nip into town today and there is a nursery nearby- think I’ll pop in there and see what they have. You really do deserve a few decent crops to make up for what’s been pretty much a disaster for you on the plot thus Spring/ Summer.

We brought back a car full of cardboard from our friend’s yesterday - they’d had a machine delivered in a huuuge box and they were about to take the cardboard to the tip Perfect timing eh?

          Anyone fancy a brew?
          Have a great day peeps…

          • Morning all.

It feels really chilly, this morning. A low of 10 ºC last night and Mr Snoop left the kitchen door to the outside world open - a summer habit - so it's a bit nippy in here.

But the sun is coming up and I've got plenty to be busying myself with today. A bit of work, a bit of French madeleine baking (for gifts sadly, but maybe the spares, if there are any, can go in the freezer for the weekend) and then gardening. As well as the many brassicas, I've got lettuce to go in too.

First things first, though. A cup of tea. And then I'll swoosh the smiles on their way before the madeleines get going. Otherwise they'll hang around till this afternoon.

            Have a great day, everyone.

Nicos I often ask for cardboard people look at you a bit odd but are ok when you say its for the garden, the last I had was packaging from new doors.

Some gardening this morning and checking everything's secure before the rain/wind thats due afternoon.

              • Good morning, had a full night's sleep, OH has one of those wraps which are filled with wheat, I think, that you heat up in a microwave oven, I used that last night to wrap round my wrist and once my hands felt normal I put on my splints, definitely not the best things to be putting on going to bed, but they work.
Dry with complete cloud cover today, so will be able to get some work done in the garden, Nicos I was fortunate enough to get a load of cardboard off my neighbour who was installing a new kitchen, OH moaned about it because there was quite a pile of cardboard, but now most of it is gone, it has been spread over the top of a section of the flower bed before covering with soil from the veg bed, it has also been scattered over the grass, shredded by the lawnmower and mixed with the grass cuttings then into the compost bin, I will need to see if any of the other neighbours will install a new kitchen. Our daughter is off work today and has suggested going out for lunch, which is fine as long as she is paying. Need to move if I sit here to long I will get a duster in my hand.
Have a good day and happy gardening
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                  • Good morning all.
Well stormy weather here with strong wind and driving rain.
Up very early this morning to see the eye specialist.
He was very pleased and I was hone again by 9.30.
Enjoy the day those of you who can get out in the garden.

                        Good evening all.
Well Agnus certainly made her presence felt here today.
She battered the country and lots of damage done to the south of Ireland.
It is still raining and gusting as I write.

Had my grandson this evening do that lifted the evening for us.
Toys put away now and he is home in bed.

                        Have a good night all.

Better weather here than where you all are, by the sounds of it. Hope you and your trees and gardens have all survived.

Got a busy day ahead, so got up early but haven't managed to achieve much so far. Fingers crossed that improves! The smiles are having a lie-in for me. A bit chilly to be out and about at the moment.

                          Have a great day, everyone.

                            • Good morning. A grey and dismal one, so far. I'm hoping it will improve as I've got a load of washing here ready to hang out.

I want to call and see my brother in law this morning as he's seemed really off it this week.

I think that a care home visit is overdue as well. It's my sister in law's birthday on Saturday, age 92, and I've got a present for her. I'll ring up later this morning and see if she is "with it" today.

I don't know where my niece's travels have taken her to now but I got an email with a picture of her breakfast yesterday.... hot chocolate and lemon meringue pie. Obviously a very " civilised" country, although I must say a good coffee and a fresh warm croissant takes a lot of beating for me.

                              See you later.
