Bramble i used the book rest yesterday while reading on the sofa wish I'd known about them sooner, its easier than propping my reader on a cushion.

      • Morning all.

Sunny today. But night-time temperatures are going to plummet, by the looks of it. I guess that's what you get with clear skies. Proper frosts coming.

Loads to do today, but feeling a lot more motivated than yesterday. The end is in sight, at long last.

        Have a great day, everyone.

        • Good morning all.
Late on parade as I got side tracked.
Dull and grey here but its dry.
Off to church shortly and then grandson is coming for lunch.
          Happy Sunday all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

          • Mornin n’alln’all

Well, it started off dark…then when I woke up again it was sunny…then when I finally woke up it was pouring down
Cold here too Snoop - I was glad to have my hottie last night.
One thing about it though…. You know there are comments about women not ordering chips as they are dieting then end up pinching them from their partner’s plate?….well, there’s something a bit like that going on with my hottie. Because it’s so long, when I wake up in the night, I notice OH has pinched one end of it! I’ve offered to buy him one but, like the chips thing, oh no, he doesn’t need one thank you…hmmmmm….

Tis bonfire night. 1605 .Amazing to think all these years later we ‘celebrate’ the memory.
I have my cake sparklers , mainly to remind me of many happy memories of it as a child when we had bonfires in gardens , pathetic - but very exciting - little fireworks, and the Smokey scent in the air the following morning. Times change but happy memories help make us what we are.
So , enjoy the evening in whatever way you choose to do or don’t . I guess many large scale celebrations have been cancelled due to the appalling weather?

I need to get my hotpot going. That’s my main tradition - hotpot with a crust( and Patti pan) , beetroot and pickled red cabbage
Parkin and treacle toffee for pud.
Funny how most of my landmark dates and traditions focus on foods!

Enjoy your day - I guess with our fire lit we’ll be roasting chestnuts today !
hope the weather is kind to you

            • Good afternoon.

I thought I posted in here early this morning, but obviously I only thought about it.

It is cold here but windy and sunny so I've got washing blowing on the line, but more in hope than expectation. I'm also feeling pleased with myself as I've got to the bottom of the ironing pile.😇

On a happier note I also spent an hour or so on the phone this morning catching up with my sister.

No doubt there will be lots more fireworks this evening. It's an awful long time since I've seen any kids with a homemade "Guy" scrounging pennies. It used to be so normal, as was building our own bonfires.

Flo by giving it that name it could encourage a Shopaholic to spend more and let's face it wives don't need any encouragement for that

My impression, rary, is that you're the one who encourages your wife to spend money on taking you out for lunch and on buying you seeds.

                  • Good afternoon, it has been a nice sunny day here today, though haven been able too much of it, OH actually slept the full night last night, unfortunately I had to get up about three, we are looking after sons dog for a couple of days as he and his family are down at Alton Towers today, I think basically to catch the fireworks display, anyway she wanted out and of course she won't go out without someone with her, fortunately there was no frost but not the best time to be going out without slippers and dressing gown, and yes other things were missing as well but didn't want to go back into the bedroom just incase I disturbed OH, however we did sleep till seven thirty, which was fine made the breakfast, then took the dog for a walk before going to church, once back home I decided to get a washing done and just going out to bring it in, I definitely need to take OHs glasses, I was told today that I need to dust as you could write your name on the furniture, now who would want to do that, I have hidden all the pens and pencils just in case OH decided to do that wives are funny, why would they want to do anything like that, as I get told off if don't put a cover or similar below anything I place on top of the furniture it really is true, a man starts off married life an expert but finishes up a novice ,. Need to go, enjoy your evening if watching firework displays but keep safe and keep smiling

We have sunshine!…nippy, but at least there is lovely sunshine!

I’ve absolutely no set plans for today - apart from collecting repeat prescriptions.
I might just get out my sewing machine as I’ve clothes to repair, curtains to make and covers for the camper van seats. Maybe.
I’ll certainly do something though outside in the garden…maybe make a start on the leaves.
It sounds like Mrs Rary is coming on a treat…brill news!

                      Enjoy your day peeps

                      • Morning all.

Sorry, it's just occurred to me that it must be very annoying when I pop up in the morning and say: it's bright today. I won't do it tomorrow, as it will be the same as today according to the forecast. And the day after. Cloudy and rainy later in the week, apparently. There, got that out of the way all at once.

Off at some point today to collect Mr Snoop's latest car and to pick up our friend up the valley, who's coming for two months bar a couple of weekends away. It's been a long time since he was last here for such a long spell. Mr Snoop and I have become more abstemious in our eating and drinking habits recently (otherwise known as dieting!), so I hope we can stick to that. Our friend is a very sociable chap, so it might not be so easy.

Other than that, the usual clacking away at the computer, in part to pay for my little online shopping trip yesterday. I wouldn't have done it, but was encouraged to do so by my husband (she says pointedly to rary ).

                        Have a great day, everyone.

                          • Hearing any news that someone, somewhere has sunshine always puts a smile on my face…keep mentioning it Snoop

I’ve finally relented and asked OH to make some Irish soda bread - we’ve not eaten much bread for a while but this morning I really fancy bread, butter and marmalade.( Probably because I spotted an open jar of marmalade in the fridge which has been sitting there a while and I don’t want it to go off.)
He’s gone yo get the prescriptions …and there is a bakery next door to the pharmacy. Hmmm…I wonder… Failing that it’ll be porridge for breakfast.

Bet Mr Snoop is excited about his car!…who wouldn’t be?
