We can’t get Shingrix at all in France so we’ve had to pay £240 at Boots for each vaccination on a private basis.
I’ve had shingles twice on my head already and been really poorly each time so it seemed logical to go for the one which lasts longer and has higher immunity.
Don't want it to affect my eyes next time …apparently it can make you blind
Obviously the cheaper one here is free
Yup - a stupid amount of money but I don’t spend on much at all on other things….so my health comes first!

    • Morning all.

Shingles on your head twice, Nicos? I can see why you'd pay to avoid that.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a pneumococcal vaccine, Jay. Also a good thing to have.

Lovely story about your dad, Bramble. Bet you have gorgeous roses.

Another cool start to the day, but it's due to get rather warm again. Me, I'll be in an air-conditioned dental clinic for some of it...

Right, better shake a leg. I'm sure there are things to do, just can't make up my mind what they are right now. First things first, a brew. Anyone fancy joining me?

      Have a great day, everyone.

Oh yes please Snoop, I will join you in a brew.
Was lovely earlier but has clouded in, depending which forecast you look at it may be showery or sunny. Bit like tossing a coin isn't it
I plan to slot in laundry and some pricking out/planting out/harvesting amongst housework , need to clean my windows for a start

And good luck with the dentist Snoop.

            • Good morning all.

A grey, warm and cloudy morning here with no rain forecast.

Good luck at the dentist, Snoop. I think the pneumococcal vaccine is a one off. My doctor managed to sneak one into my other arm when I took Mr GF, his brother (in a wheelchair) and myself for a flu jab. Obviously he told me first and I bared my arm but it was an unexpected (by me) bonus! (No side effects)...... I wonder if it's the same disorganised folk that go for a flu jab in multiple layers of hard to remove clothes that never have their debit card to hand at the supermarket checkout?

I think my window cleaner came early this morning, while I was, at best, half awake. He, unbelievably, only charges a fiver and does a good job.

              Time for more coffee.

              • Good morning all. Another dull day but its bright.
We are out for lunch with our friends today so a bit of socialising on the cards.

I did have the pneumococcal injection and had a sore arm afterwards but needs must.
I havn't ad the shingles one though.
Sometimes I think we are having too many chemicals injected into our bodies.

Snoop, good luck at the dentist, you must be used to it by now.

Flo, I wont tell himself he was right.

Nicos, shingles on your head...how very painful, understandable you would get the vaccine.

                Have a good day all.

                • Hi All,
Apparently it bucketed down early in the morning so we were not expecting the re-pointers to be here but at 10a.m. when I managed to wander downstairs they were hard at it beavering away so Kudos to them.

The weather is fine and sunny so no excuse but to head back out into the alley and rake all the strimmed grass etc. etc. from the jungle that was. Made me feel good to do it except when starting the last cut my strimmer started playing up and finally gave up the ghost......

I have deducted that it could be the micro switch as it was an intermittent fault, checked methodically No loose or slashed wires, No burnt out fuse, No bad plugs all good, the only other thing I can think of is the motor over heating ? If it's the motor I will have a hard time finding a replacement as Flymo/Husqvarna do not make the model anymore and finding a new switch took the best part of 3-4Hr's

Anybody any ideas of a good replacement for a Flymo Samurai 1000XT ( Mine 15Yr's without a problem!! ) or a used one that could be broken for spares please ? ? ?

                  Geoff.

May followed by a cold June and that they will recover now that its heating up again. Now off to make the tea which will include my own lettuce, tomatoes, carrot and greentails , so have a good evening and pass on some smiles whenever you can😊😊😊

Has anyone managed today's redactle? I'm having another try, but out of 62 guesses so far, I've only hit on 10 words. I can't even work out which way to guess.

edit - done it at last, not without the help of wiki though. I'd never have got it in a month of Sundays else.

I didn't get the windows cleaned but 2 loads of laundry and then got myself engrossed outside. Not sunny all day but very warm. Just sorting a bread out now.

                            • Morning all.

Yes, Nicos, the dentist is a really nice woman. She's got two very friendly assistants as well. Plus, now I've been a few times, much as the sound of the drills terrifies me, I trust her. So in that respect, I'm very lucky. Just as well, as I'm going back tomorrow. Like most places here, she closes for a lot of August and she wants to get some things sorted before then. Also very lucky in that M up the valley drove me there yesterday and will take me tomorrow.

Weather due to get very hot again today. I made the mistake of looking ahead to next week. The forecast says even hotter than this week. I'm just going to hope they're wrong. Fortunately, I don't have that much on the cards today, so I will be taking an afternoon nap for sure.

                              Have a great day, everyone.

Sympathy like for the dentist and weather heat snoop. My brother is off to the canaries, bit warm.
A high of 21 again today, I cope with that and due cloudy spells. Will continue with too many jobs as always.
Best do the dog walk, finding somewhere wet and shady.
