  • For the new key, what about one of those keyrings that makes a noise when you press a button on a device so the keyring makes a noise if nearby?

          • Evening

We had a good day here if you ignored the rain. More dehydrating this morning than a visitor this afternoon.

It's looking like being a fine but cold day here so we'll be of for a walk at some point I'll be wrapped up in my thermals and lined trousers.

Sending birthday wishes to Mr N, hope he gets to enjoy those oysters.

                    • Good morning all.

It's a cold one. I'm just waiting for the central heating to work it's magic, but the sun is shining. I don't know of we had a frost. I slept like a log for five hours and awakened feeling ready to take on the world (at 5 am).I have however managed to doze on and off since then.

Happy birthday to Mr Nicos. I hope he finds lots of oysters.

                      • Morning all.

Washed up oysters? Is there a trick to telling if they're good to eat? I'd have no idea. Anyway, happy birthday to Mr Nicos. Hope you both have a lovely day.

Misty in the valley and very cloudy up top here last night, so no chance of seeing the comet. Won't be here in 80,000 years for its next visit. So I can't even say there's always next time!

Have a great day, everyone. Special hello to rary. Hope you're staying off the ladders, young man!

                        • Many thanks for the kind wishes…I’ve passed them on and he was quite touched by that!

Oysters…well, they are grown in bags on long jetties going out to see. During storms some bags snap off and spill their contents which end up on the beach. You’re allowed to collect escapees like that.
We think there may be quite a few around after the storms, but may have left it too late given it’s weekend and everyone locally knows they can get them.
If you tap two shells together and they sound hollow, then they are dead.
We’ll probably buy a few anyway en route just incase we don’t find any!
Last time we were there we found half a shell which was about 20cm long I wonder how old that one would have been

                          • It was cloudy too here last night Snoop, though hopefully by the coast tonight we’ll have a good view of the horizon.
I know it’s best low on the horizon, not long after sunset…but which direction?..anyone know?

Excellent info here, Nicos. But to cut a long story short: west. Well worth reading the article, though.

Thanks for info on oysters. Only had them once. Maybe I was too young to appreciate them, but I can definitely live without them!
