  • Good morning.

Despite a few short interludes, another good night's sleep. I think I've more sleep in the last 3 or 4 days than I had altogether last week. I feel better for it.

Today I must do a grory hop. Even the milk is low.

I've just had a text from our hairdresser to rebook our appointment that we had to cancel last week. I seem to have acquired the "dragged through a hedge backwards" look.

It's dull here, but I think the washing machine will have to earn its keep.

      • Afternoon all. And thanks Flo.

Still raining butts and barrels, as they say here. Due a ceasefire, as they also say here, tomorrow before resuming again on Friday. By the time Monday comes around, we'll have had rain amounting to the last two year's worth. Better this than nothing, but better still would be from time to time and not all at once. Anyway, better to be here than Valencia, where the news is grim. Urban life is great and full of conveniences, but cities are no place to be when the weather gets out of hand.

Right, that's enough sermonising. Looking on the bright side for me, there should be water aplenty in the underground vein for next year's veg patch.

Have a great rest of the day, everyone.

          • Well, what a day this has been. More rain in one day than I have ever seen. No idea how much as all our buckets and anything else we might use to measure it overflowed. A lot is all I can say. We had mice and toads coming in to escape the flooding. And the pair of us were bailing out the corral with buckets and a pump and still not keeping up. Water ingress not too bad. Except in my wellies, which clearly have a hole and I might just as well have not been wearing them.

Very sad about all the deaths and people missing elsewhere.

            • Snoop I've been catching up on the News and Valencia is having a bad time, with loss of lives and all that devastation.

              • Yes, Bren. Really awful. Some of the footage I've seen is beyond belief.

                • Good evening.

Some of the flood footage from the Valencia area is awful. How can so much rain fall so quickly. I hope conditions improve now.

Snoop, I hope you and your neighbours are coping.

I went and did the grory hop earlier. It was awful. It was far busier than usual and there were uncontrolled children running around everywhere. There were two large artics waiting to unload. I kept my cool 🧘‍♀️and not even a muttered snarl escaped my lips.😇😇😇

I'm sick of the same meals week after week so I did buy a couple of different foods this week.

Anyone fancy a brew? Just made a fresh one. Do help yourselves!

Quick grory hop with my friend this morning, then the chimney sweep is coming, then gardening, clearing up around the patio. Hopefully planting out some bulbs too!
I really must shake a leg and get some sewing done too

Last night we had a crumble made with our apples, mirabelle, brambles and blackcurrants…and oh boy was it delish!
                    So worth growing these things!

Enjoy your day peeps…and as Rary would say…pass on a smile

I do like crumbles Nicos one of my favourites is rhubarb and strawberry, I've got frozen rhubarb but no strawberries left. Never mind there's always alternatives.

                            • Good morning all and thank you for your kind thoughts.
We are safe here as we are on a flat surface, first floor apt facing the sea, so most of the rain drained on to the beach.
Lots of flying debris and tree branches but nothing mor serious here.
It's hard to believe how fast the whole storm started..
The sky lit up and the rain thundered down in the space of minutes.
                              Have a good day all.

                              • Good morning all.

I struggled to get to sleep last night. I was still tossing, turning and coughing at 2 am. However something magical must have happened then as I never heard a thing until 9.30 am. I think the main reason that I awoke then was that somebody had pinched all the duvet and left me with a two or tree inch stripe of uncovered skin and I heard my new vac filters dropping through the letterbox. All my aches and pains seem to have melted away so far today together with the cough.

Happily I don't need to do any shopping today. The only thing on my list I didn't get yesterday was prawns, not urgent, but I was fancying prawn curry or risotto. I even grabbed the last bag of frozen croissants. I have just had a eureka moment. Next time I need shopping in the school holidays I will consider an online shop. I still keep getting the offer of £18 off a £60 shop for my first online shop from Sainsburys. With a fridge and freezer full of food now my hardest job will be deciding what to choose to cook. Should I make Cornish pasties or quiche or should we have lamb shanks?

Time to set the washer off and have more coffee.
