I wonder what adventures await us all today?

Whatever they are, let’s make the most of them!

The other day, OH caught site of a family of about 5 wild boar on our camera trap in the woods next to our house. Rather exciting!
However - the owner was parked next to it yesterday and told us that they’ve been digging up the crops in an adjacent owners field and the mayor has agreed to a one day boar hunt on his land. ( He’s dead against hunting but can only insist on being present at the time)
Not sure if he’s a veggie but he said he won’t be wanting any meat they offer him….and would we like some?…oh YES please!
There ya go….a kindness being passed forward. Glad I did my kind deed yesterday twice fold now
We best eat more space in the freezer!

Milder here too, so it’s a good day to go and bring some more firewood back from our woodyard and stack up our home supply.

Good morning all.

I think the smiles got an SOS from Santa that he needed some assistance getting his sleigh ready and sobering up the reindeer this year. All seems on schedule however. I just had a peek at the NORAD santa tracker website and it said to come back on the 24th for live tracking.

I think that I might actually wrap some presents today. If I am in the right frame of mind, and have plenty time, it's a job that I really enjoy.

Amazingly, even though I let Mr GF have another couple of my Lindt chocolate balls last night, and scoffed a few myself, there are still a few left in the box.

Off to make more coffee now.

Invariably there are cat hairs ( or even lip!) stuck to the torn/ mangled scellotape.
I do tend to manage to cover the whole gift though, which I guess is a bonus

My mom spent hours and hours trying to show me each year when I was younger. Alas mom …sorry about that .

Afternoon all.

I've become a lot more pro-hunting, I'm afraid to say, where boar are concerned. They eat my fruit and veg too. And I'm quite nervous about meeting a boar when I'm out walking the dog or walking up and down the valley (through woodland) to the neighbours in each direction.The idea of meeting five would make me take the car even though it's just a ten-minute walk.

Cloudy here today but not quite as cold. Due to get very chilly and windy again in a few days. Which reminds me, time to get more wood indoors.

Not sure where the smiles might have got that tinsel, Nicos. I hope they've not been raiding someone's tree.

I used to be quite good at wrapping presents but Mr Snoop likes doing it. What with that and not many gifts to wrap, I've rather got out of the habit. That said, I'm not sure I've ever left lip on the sellotape!

Right, better shake a leg. See if I can persuade Missie to come outdoors with me to the woodpile. She's in marauding mode... Terrible.

Morning all.

Had a good night's sleep at the Gardeners Rest last night. Very comfy beds, Miz Spelling and Mrs Go-4it.

Coldest night of the year so far last night. Beautiful hard frost and bright blue sky this morning.

Got the loaf I made yesterday in the oven this morning. Seemed to take an age to rise yesterday, so I left it in the basement overnight to stay cool. Pretty well just right this morning. Mind you, no toast till it's done and cooled, so bad planning there on my part.

On the cards for today, well, my list says poems (impossible to translate well), cookies (dough left over from yesterday to bake for gifts this morning), almond paste (never made it before, so fingers crossed it goes OK) and try and do something with my sourdough starter. After getting going really quickly, it is now doing absolutely nothing, not a bubble, not a mm rise, nothing, not even with a hot water bottle, well, warm water bottle, to speed it on its way. And after all the cooking stuff, washing-up will be in order. But apart from the poems, quite a nice day.

I am tired ... not a great night's sleep.

I've to go for blood tests this morning, and I am such a coward. I don't mind them putting things in too much, but they always seem to have a problem getting blood out. And I am certainly not happy about this "getting old and falling to pieces malarky".
