  • Mornin n’alln’all
Woken up by rain bouncing off the windows again!
Been nice to have had a bit of variety recently though

I’ve been awake a while so thought I might just get up, have a brew then get to the patisserie for when it opens and buy in some fresh croissants etc to pop in the freezer. Can’t imagine they’ll all make it home though
We helped out a baker once after a rather late, alcoholic meal at a friends house. As we were heading home ( yeh…guess who was driving) he said he was going to work….So we (I) drove him to his village bakery and as he staggered to the front door we offered to help him- even holding him upright would have been useful.
Well, I have to say, it was a wonderful experience. The skill of the guy was phenomenal and I honestly think it was that which whet our appetites for homemade bread.

Apart from that, today is my designated day for sending messages to friends and family. I gave up on Xmas Cards a few years ago. They are neigh on impossible to find here and always cost a fortune…plus postage abroad …so now I spend hours finding nice festive piccies on tinternet which are most appropriate to that person then WhatsApping them with a message. Invariably it ends up long conversations/ phone calls . Always a lovely, snuggly day in front of the fire

So…whatever you get up to today, have a lovely day. Be kind to yourselves, and pass on one of rary’s smiles

        • Morning all.

LD, if your life is anything like the Gardeners Rest, it must be pretty hectic round your way!

All quiet on the southern front at the moment. We briefly had the door and window open to let some fresh air in. But only briefly, as it's distinctly chilly out.

Lots on the cards for this Sunday. Cake and focaccia to bake for neighbours, fried mini calzone for breakfast for us and a Dan Lepard rye and fruit loaf for us. I hope we don't like the calzone. I've never made them before like this and it seems like a very dangerous precedent.

Some domestics if I've got the energy for them. I really need to give the range a good clean but might leave that for tomorrow.

          Have a great day, everyone.

          • Morning

Our early morning snows turned to rain with gusty wind, so its not very nice to be out and about.

Over the years I've also cut down on cards, I make those for close family and friends then neighbours receive store bought ones. Others I'm in contact my text or email.

            enjoy your Sunday

            • Good morning all, I have been to the church and now I am off to the hairdressers.
Looking after my grandson this afternoon as both his parents are working today.
It was raining earlier but its bright and very cold now.
We have cut down on sending cards as well. The cost of a stamp has risen a couple of times lately.

Nicos, your day sounds lovely, snuggled up by the fire.
Have a good whatever you're up to.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
