    • Good morning all.

I hope everybody is well. The car is a frozen blob yet again, but the temperature is forecast to climb to 5°C later, before the snow begins tonight. We are supposed to be expecting ~20cm. That sounds like 8 inches to me. If I was much, much younger I'd be polishing the runners on my sledge. I've got lots of good memories of sledging including us talking a big farm worker into laying on the biggest sledge, "our gang" climbing on top, and then setting off. We kids baled out before we hit the fence at the bottom of the hill.....

The only place I intend going today is the little mini Sainsbury's for a newspaper for Mr GF and maybe a bottle of milk as a litre has mysteriously disappeared since yesterday. I think we must both inadvertently work on the 1960s advice: A pinta, per person, per day.

When I visited my brother in law yesterday he gave me some really nice, warm and furry slipper socks, that he'd got for Christmas that were too small for him. They are wonderful.

        • lottie dolly, I remember a Saturday morning job at my grandparents' house was tearing newspaper into squares and using a bodkin to put it onto a string, to go behind the (outside) toilet door. Also, making a mountain of paper sticks to light the coal fire. Proper recycling.

I'm not sure because the car had already defrosted before we went out yesterday. If it hasn't, I'm sure I'll find out at a very inconvenient time.

              • Good morning Alll A white frost but the sky is completely grey.
Nowhere to go today so I may put away the decorations
I am anxious to get the house in order so I can start my jigsaw

Flo, I hope your grandson is improving.

Have a good day all and wrap up well if you're going outl

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                • Was nice star gazing last night until the cloud came over and it snowed a bit, no good for a snowman yet though, zero degrees just now and sunny.

                  • Ooooh, it feels cold. The wind is biting.

I went and got Mr GF his newspaper. I did also pick up a couple of essentials: A bottle of wine, a bottle of milk, a carton of cream, and a half price loaf of nice seeded bread that I 've put in the freezer.

The sky is very cloudy but it hasn't got that heavy, almost greyish yellow hue that I associate with daytime snow.

                    • Afternoon All Very overcast here, we're just waiting for the snowfall that is forecast, safe in the knowledge that we have everything we could possibly need. I'm hoping that it will not disrupt my son getting to and from the hospital. Harry is making progress, albeit slowly. His mum has been staying with him.
I've taken down the decorations, but rely on my youngest son to dismantle the tree and put Christmas back in the loft. If he can't make it tomorrow then so be it.
Lord Ginger went to bite me again today. I'm beginning to wonder if it's his strange way of showing affection. I've even heard him purr today. I must ask his owners if he acts the same with them.
Eldest GG was 28 yesterday and eldest grandson is 23 today. Where on earth does the time go?
Hope you're all in fine fettle
