  • Good morning all.
it's very cold here as well, just 5 degs, but its dry.
A trip to the farmers market is on the cards for this morning.

Snoop, glad to hear your jabs weren't too painful,

Mothhwk, I decided to have a lazy morning so I ignored the noise.

    Have a good day all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

The laundry's out not sure if it'll dry but it'll have to keep an eye on the weather.

What do you do with all the apple purée, Bren? How do you use it?
Its frozen in portions then bagged. Mostly it's for my pinhead oatmeal with a sprinkle of cinnamon, some we have with sausages or pork, its nice at the bottom of a sponge pudding as well.

Snoop thats good you've not reactions this time round to your jabs.

      enjoy your day

      • All today's plans went out of the window when I attempted to set off out earlier. A couple of hundred yards down the road I hit the "A" road. The traffic was completely static in the direction I wanted to go. No emergency vehicles, nothing to see. No idea why and no idea how far ahead the blockage was. I still don't know..... The problem here is the limited amount of through roads due to the river and the motorway which gives very few alternative routes. I went to a local shop, bought a newspaper for Mr GF and gave up, travelling home via back roads so that I didn't end up in the mayhem.

        • Morning all. Milder today.

Do you think it was flooding that blocked the road GF? There were a lot of flood warnings out.

Time for tea while I try to finish yesterday's crossword

We get that with diverted traffic that's why I walk to the supermarket with my trolley, often passing the same cars all the way. One time a DHL van gave me a wave as I'd been walking next to him for the last 10 mins.

            • Good morning. Grey and gloomy here again....but not raining yet. A mere 81% chance of rain today.

I still have no idea what caused yesterday's traffic jam, but then again I haven't been out again yet. The jam was in the wrong place to be caused by a junction closure on the M1 so I presume it was an accident of some kind. I hate travelling on the M1 near here ever since they changed the hard shoulders into running lanes and "downgraded" lots of it to a "smart" motorway.

No idea what I'm doing today. I think I'll give my sister a call.

Dull, grey and gloomy with rain on the way,
No plans for the day so far.

I try not to drive on the motorway if I can avoid it,
Drivers have no patience or tolerance any more.

                Have a good day all.

                • Morning all.

Very windy here but lovely and bright. Off out shortly. Going out for lunch with friends who are passing through that we haven't seen for donkey's years. Really looking forward to seeing them. A quick detour before that to our agricultural co-op for mouse traps... The flooding seems to have encouraged them indoors. The moles are moving to higher ground as well and have invaded my top veg patch up near the house.

Had a trial weed this morning in this top patch. Ground very wet still, but more rain due this coming week, so will make a start on the weeding tomorrow. The soil in the beds in this patch is actually in lovely condition. My bottom patch down in the fields just looks like silt scattered with rocks and boulders. I haven't been able to get a close look. The JCB man came down and said he'd be back when the ground was dry. Months he reckons. If I do resurrect this patch - Mr Snoop is coming round to the idea after seeing the price of veg in the shops - I foresee going back to dig rather than no-dig there, but sticking to no-dig up the top.

The smiles are starting to return at night. Still no fire in the bedroom, but Mr Snoop conceded it was cold last night so I think tonight might be the night. Hope the ones still out and about are doing the full rounds.

Better go and tidy myself up now for going out into the big wide world. Have a great day, everyone.

                  • Afternoon

Motorways are ok so long as they’re running, any holdups and you’re stuck and can be for hours, I avoid them if possible.
It’s been dull and damp here all day only gardening had been harvesting. Instead I’ve spent the day knitting and reading it feels like a proper lazy Sunday.

                    • We actually saw the sun for a short time earlier today, but then rain took over at about the same time I took the washing out of the machine.

In the end I have had a whole day of housework. I didn't really mean to. It was the sort of day where one job led to another ... which led to another ... and another. I even replaced a lightbulb in the bedroom that I have been meaning to do for days. The problem was I only ever remembered it had "blown" at bedtime when I turned the lights on but today as I was changing the bed it was so dark I went to turn the lights on and realised while I actually had some daylight. It is literally years since I have had to replace any. I presume that I'll suddenly have lots to replace. I must put them on the shopping list.

I think according to the forecast we may actually get a frost tonight. The rain has actually stopped now and I can see stars.

                      • Well for some reason I cannot sleep. I'm wide awake at half four in the morning. Everything is frozen solid outdoors. Just looking at it through the window should be enough to make me snuggle down into a warm and comfortable bed and drop off, but no....I'm now trying a glass of milk and some chocolate. I feel so sorry for anyone without a warm bed in this weather.

                        Off to try again......😴😴😴

                        • Morning, GF. Morning, all.

Can't sleep either. I woke Mr Snoop up by having a nightmare (rare these days). And then he couldn't get off to sleep again so made me a cup of tea in bed. And feeling obliged to stay awake for the tea meant I couldn't get back to sleep. So I got up and at it.

Got a couple of loaves of bread on the go and about to make some spiced turkey burgers and some sausage risotto for the freezer. And then work. By which time it will be 9 am, I imagine, and I'll be ready for bed again!

Oh, and it's raining quite hard. Not what I wanted. But never mind. Yesterday was lovely and we had a really good time with our friends. Definitely to be repeated.

Bit early for the smiles to be up and about, but I'm sure they'll be doing the rounds later, come rain or shine. Or frost. Sounds chilly where you are, GF.

                          Have a great day everyone.

Seems we're all early risers today. I think GF woke me fetching the milk and chocolate, but I just nipped to the loo then snuggled back down for an hour, then at 5.30 decided I may as well get up as that is only half an hour earlier than usual. Haven't had any tea yet but the kettle's on, though I'm not dynamic enough to be busy in the kitchen like you Snoop!

I'm out of bed by 7 but rarely come on line around 8-ish. I like to get a few things done first. Just now we're dog sitting, we don't want the commitment of another dog so its nice to have him here a couple of times a year.

                              enjoy your day.

Frosty start here in Yorkshire . The cars were white. Glad I was snuggled up in bed
                                Having a great time here.
I’ve been baking ginger biscuits with granddaughter. ( IKEA dough is amazing)
Been walking on Ilkley Moor - oh yes, of course we sang ‘On Ilkley Moor bah t’at’
Fish and chip picnic, dog sitting…
Gardening, planting out bulbs….cooking down apples. Hunting down bargains in TK Maxx….creating a birthday party and munching on birthday cake…nipping into a couple of pubs , and yesterday visited the Keithley and Worth Valley steam train railway stations at Oakworth and Haworth . Cor that was a blast - literally - from the past!
Heading saarf tomorrow for a few days , then home.
A message from home is that the leaves dropping from our massive black cherry tree has revealed a huge Asian hornets nest .
We’d hardly seen any this year but our neighbours had been troubled with them, but none of us could find the nest. Yup, right above our noses! They’ve got in pest control for us and the same day it was destroyed as it was still active.

Ta muchly for the tea to whoever left it out for me….speak again soon!
                                Keep safe and healthy peeps
