  • Mornin n’alln’all
te he…I thought rary’s antennae might be waggling at our conversation!
    Lovely to see you matey.
I too have cut down on my screen time and am trying to read a bit more. Not that I have much time just to sit down! Having said that, having a woodstove burning away is quite an incentive just to stop and sit!

Woke up this morning to a heavy frost. Not been outside yet to see the effect on the flowers and plants although I guess the nasturtiums will be a slimy mess I cut some red roses yesterday - still lots of buds on the plant!

I might do more ironing today , putting a film on the tv and get more out of the way.
OH suggested he’d get the Xmas decorations down tomorrow so if I can get the ironing basket empty and put away until next Spring then it’ll be a bit of a psychological boost.

I keep giggling at the thought of you stripping off in public Snoop I’m not as extreme as that but I only wear socks in winter when I go out - always barefoot in the house , so shoes and socks get ripped off at the front door when I get home. Yes, I do get cold feet sometimes but I’d rather that than wear socks! I do however quite like the feel of some new bamboo socks I bought recently….

Well, ta muchly to whoever left the tea and toast. I couldn’t find the lemon curd though….

    Keep warm peeps!

    • Morning

Very foggy earlier but its more or less cleared now more of a mist.

I've been also cutting my PC screen time down its surprising how much time you can waste looking at random sites by following links. PC's on in the morning then during the day use my phone to check emails and read forums, no side tracking.

Bare foot in summer then my furry crocs come out in winter.

Ok time to do things enjoy your day.

      • Morning folks!

I haven't been on for a while but thought I would pay a little visit. Heading into the attic later to dig out the Crimbo decorations. I have a Little Grey Fergie Tractor now, parked on the drive which needs a bit of work before I can use it in earnest. I have the bright Idea of decorating it with Crimbo lights as a garden attraction. Of course all the other indoor lights and tree will be put up as well. It will be interesting to see what still works from last years lights?
Hoping to get the majority, if not all of my Crimbo dinner veg from the allotment this year, Been a good year on the plot and all the beds are still being planted up,so plenty to choose from. What is the point of renting an allotment for a year then oly growing stuff on it for half a year? Its a no brainer for me! Takes a bit of planning but it's better than having bare soil or worse still, black plastic or weed membrane. I don't subscribe to the idea of leaving land fallow to let it rest. Keep the beds in good condition and planted up atall times is my motto.
Anyway, enjoy your Crimbo all and I am sure I will be back to torment you at a later date!

        • Good morning. Nice to see that Rary is keeping an eye on things.

For some unknown reason I awoke at about 3am and could not drop back to sleep. Eventually I did and awoke at 8am to the aroma of bread. I'd set the trusty breadmaker off on the timer before I went to bed.

I prefer barefoot too or sandals outdoors. I haven't made the transfer to boots yet this year but I think it's imminent. As my sister, another shoe hater, says...... sandals and snow do not go.....mostly.

A job for today is to ease out my old cooker and clean around, behind and under it ready for the new one arriving tomorrow. It hasn't moved in years.

It is 3°C here but at least the murk seems to be thinning a little now. I think yesterday's sunshine was a rare aberration looking at the forecast for the next week.

            • Afternoon all.

Snadger and Rary both. Brilliant. Nice to see you guys. And yes, Snadger, keeping beds planted would be my philosophy. Or at least my excuse for the weeds...

Hope you have a lovely time, LD.

Good luck, GF. We're hoping to have building work done on the kitchen next spring and I'm dreading moving the cooker and the like. Once the building work is done, I'll have to be more diligent with the housework.

Right, that's enough embarrassment for one day. Nope, I'm not even embarrassed about removing tights on the street. It needed doing.

So, on the cards for today - not much. Hooray. Need to settle down to some billing, but workwise that's it. Mr Snoop is off into the village for a couple of cultural events and to pick up my latest flour delivery. Feeling very blessed today. I shall make some buns to celebrate for us and the freezer, surplus for gifts rather than the other way around for once. Possibly madeleines. Haven't made them in ages. I think the smiles might head back early today...

              Have a great afternoon everyone.

OH was up bright and early this morning and had baked 3 loaves before I was awake! The house smelled wonderful. Not tried them yet- one sourdough and two Irish soda bread…but I‘ve got the butter out of the fridge in anticipation!

Don’t you just love the smell of fresh baked bread, it seems to go through the whole house.
Good luck with your cleaning project GF wonder what you’ll find behind the cooker. The last time ours was out we found a bottle opener and spatula we didn’t know were missing.
We have clean windows that’s about all I have to show for the morning.

Anyhoo, enjoy the rest of your evening. x

                      • Good evening.

Amazingly when I investigated there was very little rubbish behind and around the cooker. A bit of a broken mug, a picture hook, a million cobwebs and some general grunge.

I decided this morning to make appointments for things that ought to be done before Christmas. I rang Mr GF's podiatrist who normally has a 2 week wait and got him an appointment for next Tuesday. I then decided that I was fed up of shouting at him, having to repeat myself and turn the TV up. I rang his hearing aid suppliers. Wow, an appointment for this afternoon at a health centre a couple of miles away.

Things were obviously going far too well. After giving his name and sitting for half an hour in the waiting room I go to investigate the delay and find he's not on the list.😡🤯😤😬😠

We returned home. I negotiated the really annoying sod**ng ansaphone system again and listened to their really annoying music interspersed with " All our operators are busy and you are number xx in the queue" at the hearing aid place. It is usually when these companies tell me that my call is very important to them that I am ready to scream " Employ more staff then"! They were however most apologetic when I eventually got to talk to a human and made us another appointment for 4.45 in their main hub in the city. He is hopefully now sorted out.

Just had a text re the cooker. Delivery is still supposedly between 9am and 1pm tomorrow......

                          Lovely to see you Jay.
Yup - we’ll be opening the Gardeners Rest next weekend. Hope you come and join us

Not got any decorations up yet - hopefully this weekend and then the greenery later in the week or next weekend as the rooms get very hot with the wood fires. Don’t want them dying before the big day!
I’ve got a tiny plastic tree from when my son was a nipper - he loved having it next to his bed. It’s going in the camper!…and I’ve bought some tiny lights to go on it ! What a good excuse to go out in the camper during the run up to Xmas eh?

Whats the first thing you’re going to try out in your oven?

Many years ago I had a new kitchen installed in my old house in the uk just before Xmas, and when the oven arrived it had a continental plug on it Check yours is ok!
                            Exciting!

                            • The cooker is gas and the delivery men are, hopefully, fitting it and also taking my old one away. My old cooker is gas and I have hummed and arred for ages whether to have electric or gas but I do prefer gas. So gas it is.

No idea what will be first thing to cook but I suppose a trial Yorkshire pud will be on the agenda this week. Christmas cake too maybe? Carrot cake? The possibilities are endless. Mr GF keeps having "ideas".

It's nice to see Snadger and Jay popping in.

I have given no thought to decorations yet. Shall I bother? Undecided. No thought to Christmas dinner either really. I'll see if Mr GF's brother wants to come. He has done for the last roughly 20 years. Sadly most of the other elderly relatives who I used to invite are now either dead or not able to travel. I'll also check around and make sure nobody else I know will be on their own unless it's through choice.
