          • Good morning all.
A beautiful sunny morning but its 0 degs.
Must make a trip into town this morning.
I have a long list and need to start marking things off.
Looking after my grandson this evening so that's the day spoken for.

GF , your cake looks yummy.

Snoop, glad to hear you enjoyed your birthday.

Jay, I know the feeling, sometimes it's hard yo get motivated.

            Have a good day all.

            • Snoop, I used to use china or enameled basins but due to the fact I now make more.... but smaller puddings.... and getting smaller china ones isn't easy, and due to the low return rate of basins I've moved onto plastic with lids and I still moan about non-return every year. My mother once had a stainless steel pudding bowl with a weird locking lid. One of my sisters has probably got it.

Mr GF has already had his first slice of fruit cake and crumbly cheese this morning....early elevenses he called it. Of course I had some with him ....just to be sociable of course.

              • Morning all. Very frosty this morning…coldest yet I think and it’s to get colder. Winds from the arctic I believe. Chilly!!

Thats a great website GF, thought I may get something to put the shine back in my engineered wood floor. It’s getting darker and duller as the years go by but I can’t find anything to put the luster back in.

Hope you all have a great day, see you later. x

                  • Afternoon

I've been out and about now home for tea and biscuits.
The GH temps been as high as 20c the suns gone in so its rapidly dropping.

My favourite basin is an old ceramic one that i use to make a 2oz flour/butter/ sugar, egg, jam sponge pudding. Just the right size for 2.

                    enjoy your afternoon

                      • I had a feeling something like that would happen GF, but it was worth a try as for swellings I was getting a bit worried about one I have, just above my belt line, but OH told me to eat less and it would dissappearbut I have decided just to live with it have had quite a busy day, first off someone had asked for my help with sorting out his central heating control and to see if I could do anything about high volumes of condensation, got the heating sorted, then checked the condensation, I have recommended that he opens the windows a bit as the double glazed windows and sealed up fireplace means a lack of air movement which creates a buildup of moisture combining with lower temperatures at night leading to condensation on the windows, houses need ventilation, but unfortunately a lot of folk are not aware of this and think everything needs to be sealed up, hopefully this will help him as he has two young children who will hopefully benif it from this after this I had to go up and check on one of the grandsons, but fortunately his mum phoned to say she was coming home to take him to see a doctor, (the doc recons he has a bronchial infection and prescribed antibiotics, hopefully this will sort him out) , then I had to take the youngest grandson to a clinic to get his feet checked out as he is experiencing pain on his heels, caused mainly by a growth spurt he has had recently, so he now has special insoles and exercises to do well now going to have a bit of a rest, intended to go out to the greenhouse but its far too cold so will just take it easy and find something to read. Keep safe, keep warm and most important keep smiling. Goodnight
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                        • Evening all. I've just taken the mark 2 version Christmas cake out of the oven (slightly cooler oven). This one is for our hairdresser's Christmas tip/present. The smell is gorgeous. I'm practically drooling.

It has been so cold today. I have actually put my sandals into retirement until Spring and worn trainers. I had to defrost the car at 12.30pm when I went out. It is now well frozen again. Maybe a few flakes of the white floaty stuff tomorrow according to the forecast.

I called in the big supermarket and got bread flour and glace cherries no problem . ... but no currants. I can live without them. A few naughty things jumped into my trolley though...mainly assorted blue cheese.

                          Off to bed now😴😴😴

GH overnight low was -2.1c no wonder the door was frozen shut, its still in minus figures out there Grory hop first then home to bake some bread cobs and a loaf. might make scones while the ovens on.

wrap up well and enjoy your day

                            • A chilly good morning to you all.🥶🥶🥶🥶

The roofs and cars are frozen again and it's -2°C. I think everything actually thawed for only about 3 hours yesterday.

I was awake at 5.10am this morning and I could not drop back to sleep.

I ordered a couple of Christmas presents for the elderly in-laws from a well known thermal wear company yesterday. I was really happy when searching through my old email I found one from them from 3 months ago, that I had a vague memory of, with a code for 15% off and free delivery. Evidently the goods are now out with the delivery company. When I went to put the booze I'd bought for presents in my Christmas storage (in the ottoman base of my bed) I found a dressing gown in there I'd bought months ago in a sale for a present. I had completely forgotten about it. I must be getting old.

We're both having our hair cut today. Hence making cake last night. Not that I leave things until the last minute.

Maybe some snow this evening too. No, too cold to snow!! It'll have to warm up and cloud up a bit first. At the moment it looks like classic freezing, clear sky high pressure.

Off to make more coffee now.

                              • Morning all.

Hope you all manage to stay warm today. Here the challenge will be to stay dry... And everywhere is still sodden from the big flood.

Managed to do one of my jobs for the day before it started to rain hard - bringing in firewood for the bedroom. Plenty of stuff to keep me occupied for the rest of the day, so better get a move on.

                                Have a great day, everyone.
