    • Tyre pressure?…water?….
      Dog basket?…..blanket…
Actually - is it going to be a long journey?…water…poo bags….towels etc for wiping up sick…..

Te he…that reminds me of when we went with my MIL to collect her puppy…she sat in the back seat whilst FIL drove. The puppy peed all over her and the seat ( she was holding him) she never said a word to her OH!

      • My daughter went to Chester to collect Chester. He travelled all the way back to my house without accident until he was put down on my kitchen floor when he promptly relieved himself! Bless him, he's 14 now and showing it.

        • Well that's the back windows done I used Elbow Grease first (yes that really is a cleaning spray and very versatile it is too) and then Mr M and they're sparkling

          • Years ago I always used Windolene, I wonder if that's still available? It was handy to leave on the Windows when we were decorating with no curtains up

            • Flo original Windolene’s still for sale can’t remember were I saw it though. Everyone used it on windows and didn’t it take some removing when it’d been on a while.

                • Evening all.

It's been warm and sunny most of the day. Gave the car a thorough clean inside and out as it is going for its MOT and service tomorrow. I rarely wash it, most years just spring and autumn and MOT time . The headlights are getting very cloudy as the car is 14 now, but I got some good stuff that you just wipe on after a thorough clean, and I think (hope) they are now clear enough to pass the test.

The chat about Be-ro books sent me to the cupboard to look for mine, inherited from my mum. I found it, and checked the edition - 16th edition - no date but a bit of goggling tells me it was printed in 1953. There's an interesting little paragraph on the inside back cover, since people were saying the paper quality was poor :

"We regret that the Paper used in this Recipe Book varies in colour from page to page, and is not in keeping with the high standard of Be-Ro.
Because of the difficult paper situation and shortage of supplies, we had to accept this paper rather than refuse requests for the Be-Ro Recipe Book."

                      • Morning

It was a 15c overnight in my GH and today has that summer feeling so probably not the best day to be baking bread.
                        Grory hop this morning.
MH I remember my mums Be-Ro book it was a tatty looking book in black/white not sure what happened to that.

                        Enjoy your day.

                        • Morning all.

A hot day ahead, but cloudy as well. So muggy and a warm night ahead.

Plenty to keep me busy today, so better shake a leg. At least there are no windows for me to clean. I used to do a cleaning job when I was a student. They had me cleaning the windows with vinegar and newspaper. I don't think they ever did it themselves and so had no idea how long it took. Hard work and they were never satisfied that I couldn't manage all the downstairs windows (big detached house) and do all my usual duties in two hours.

I imagine the smiles stayed at Mr and Mrs NtG's place last night, so should be with you all extra early today seeing as they don't have to travel so far. That is, of course, if they can tear themselves away from Gus.

Great find, mothhawk. Bet your mum has some stories related to that book. Anything in there take your fancy?

                          Have a great day, everyone.

                          • Good morning, a pleasant 22°C here, forecast to hit 26 or 27°C later today..... a temporary blip evidently.

I dropped a jar of marmalade off yesterday for the elderly man who called round to see us last Friday. He'd told me then that he was getting a bit unstable, at age 97, and needed a cleaner. When I saw him yesterday he was really happy as the girl I'd referred him to suits him down to the ground and has already started.

I'm pleased with yesterday's strawberry jam and think maybe raspberry next, but seedless.

Next job is a visit to the chemist's to pick up our prescriptions.

                            • Good morning all.
The sun is shining here as well.
We have decided to have a day out with our friends.
We are taking the train down the coast for a change.
Must water the greenhouse plants before I go.
                              Hope Gus settled in well.
                              Have a good day all.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
