  • Morning all.

No rain forecast for today but due to be cloudy. Am hoping to get out into the garden for a couple of hours at some point. Otherwise, it's the usual work. Not very exciting, but have woken up in a good mood after a decent sleep, so that's a plus.

    Have a great day, everyone.

      • Morning all. A cold foggy start here too. Heating is on as the house is cold. Few things to pick up at the shops but other than that not a lot on the cards.
Waiting for our grass man to cometh and take a bit of the leylandii at the bottom of the garden. It’s pretty high but our neighbour behind was keen to keep it high. Unfortunately she has now passed away so not sure what the new neighbours will think about it. For now it’s being kept neat and tidy.
Enjoy the rest of your day folks. x

        • Glorious sunshine today and is now above freezing, biblical storm forecast tomorrow so we may get cut off again. one of the roads north floods in a dip in the road over a hundred feet above sea level, they no idea how to fit a drain to stop it seemingly, our council seem to specialise in being dumb.

I can assure you that it's not just your council, Burnie.

            • Good night all.
We are now in Madrid for the next few days.
We took the train up this morning and spent a lovely evening viewing the palace art gallery.
              Very impressive collection.
It tried to rain here this afternoon, but it gave up after a few drops.
tTemp is around 19 degs so its cooler than Malaga.
              Have a good night all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

              • Seems the rain is now not due until thursday, whatever we went to the supermarket and got some milk and other essentials, so if we are stuck we will be warm(multi fuel stove), have stuff to cook or heat on the stove if we get a power cut from the high winds like last time and no real reason to go out. The cars due in the garage, but that can wait if need be, stay safe all.

                • Morning all.

Enjoy Madrid, bramble. An amazing city with so much you can do. Ages since I last went to the Prado. Must go back. Thanks for the reminder.

Very cloudy out and surprisingly warm. Rain forecast for tomorrow - nothing like as bad as yours, Burnie, but still enough for me to chivvy Mr Snoop into weatherproofing us again today. Poor Mr Snoop.

Anyway, yesterday he went and spoke to a hunter friend about 'our' boar. Apparently, all the hunters have got more meat already in their freezers than they know what to do with and there's a whole hunting season ahead. So, the meat would be ours (after a veterinary test to make sure it's safe to eat). But the big problem would be butchering it, as we'd have to deal with that. And dispose somehow of the bits we didn't want... Bit grim thinking about all this. Apparently once they've found a place with food, they just keep coming back, and next year there might be a family of them. So if I want a veg patch or fruit off our trees, it has to be done. Oh dear.

Right, to more immediate matters. Loads of work to get through. Had a bit of a stymied day yesterday, so need to catch up. Better get a move on. I've chivvied the smiles on their way. They ask if you could make some cream for them, GF. They promise they won't eat any, they just want a sniff. Mind you, they might get a bit tipsy just on the brandy fumes. If so, I hope they behave themselves.

                  Have a great day, everyone.

No rain due here until late afternoon, then it won't be anything like yours Burnies stay safe up there it looks like being rough.

That's a worry about the Boar Snoop hope you find a solution to the butchering.

Got my gardening finished yesterday even took down the beans and canes after the toms. No plans today.

Enjoy Madrid Bramble i've just have a look on line and its a beautiful city.

                      • Mornin n’alln’all
We’re back home….late last night , and promptly had to put the winter duvet on the bed
It was surprisingly warm standing on the deck watching the ferry dock…and now it’s raining, but nothing like you are forecast Burnie. Keep safe x
Today I shall mostly be unpacking, cleaning inside the camper, washing and snuggling with Hibou in front of the woodfire.
We bought a treadle hen feeder whilst away and it came almost flat pack, so that’s going to be fun putting it together. Hopefully that will cut down their interaction with the hundreds of sparrows which come and pinch the bird feed! They eat almost as much as the hens on a daily basis I don’t mind feeding them, just don’t want the close interaction incase of bird flu.
Enjoy Madrid bramble.I’m not sure if I’ve ever been tbh. If so , I would have been a nipper being ‘dragged around’ wearing my Sunday best in the heat of summer…..so my memories of most of those holidays was ice cream breaks!

I very much remember going up and down inside the Atomium in Brussels when I was really quite small. Such an unusual building!

Best crack on - enjoy your day peeps!
So pleased to see the avatars back…well done to the new IT peeps

                        • Good morning all.

A very pleasant looking Autumn day and we're just into double figures already.

Snoop, can you not sweet talk and/or barter with one of the hunters to help with the butchery? There shouldn't be much waste. If all else fails there's always You tube! Tell the smiles I'll be whisking up more cream today as there's still half a cake left.

                          • Ooo…nice call gf- a lot would be fed to their dogs no doubt…
…but how about hosting a small, fiesta type event feeding your neighbours and friends with roasted hog meat? I had a relative whose meat freezer defrosted so to avoid waste, they roasted, bbq’d etc etc most of the meat( which their friends and neighbours couldn’t use) and they brought breads, salads and booze to the feast.
Can you make sausages with some of it, or salt and wrap and make a ham with it?
Maybe some of your neighbours would come along and help/show you how it’s done?
Families here still have ‘pig events’ where the mobile slaughterer dispatches the family pigs and the whole day is spent by the extended family making pate, sausages , rillette, casseroles preserved in Le parfet jars, and smoked in open chimneys.
You could kindle and created very happy memories….and end up with a useable veggie patch next year!

oh my….I’m only 4hrs into my diet and I’m already drooling

                                A boar’s a lot bigger though.
