  • Good morning, a cold but sunny day again, though no fog, was out to the greenhouse and my expiriment of a hot bed isn't working, not sure whither the seeds aren't germinating or mice have fed on them, as the peas that I sowed have all been eaten, I will try again with some protection for the seeds.
I am supposed to be going to a St. Andrews night in a couple of weeks, but I think I will cancel this, I know OH might be OK by then but I doubt if I would enjoy sitting for four or five hours worrying if she was all right, actually while putting this down I have decided I am not going, so next thing I need to do send an email to the organisers to let them know,. Have a good day whatever the weather and remember your smiles

    • Sounds a better plan Rary - I couldn’t settle either thinking what OH might be up to!
No excuse not to get in a Haggis, a nice bottle of whisky and pop on your kilt and play some ceilidh music? Iimagine you have a kilt?

        • Yes Nicos there's a kilt upstairs, but not been worn for a good number of years.
Was out the back today tidying up a bit and nipping in regularly to make sure OH was OK, did this several times until she finaly said she would give me a shout or phone if she needed me and she was going to watch something on TV, so with that I knew she wouldn't be going into the conservatory, therfore I could wash down the greenhouse, if I had been spotted doing this I would have been told, a/ I am doing it wrong or b/as you are doing that, wash the conservatory windows, definitely don't want to do that just now, 20 windows 2.5ft x 4.5ft that would take me most of the afternoon doing that anyway got the greenhouse washed and tided up a bit, I also put the fire on just to check it was OK, Bren said her greenhouse temperature went up to 24c mine never went above and 15c even with the fire on though I did have the doors open, I also washed one of the sun tunnels and this is now placed on top of the greenhouse raised bed, so I will let the temperature build up a bit then try sowing more seed. I am now going to inspect the inside of the eyelids, as I think I have a problem with them, they seem to be getting a bit heavy as I have a difficulty keeping them open, have a good evening everyone and smile enen if it's just to yourself

          • Rary I’d got the door and back Louvres open, but my GH is in full sun so it soon heats up. Have you thought of starting your seeds in doors that should help germination.

            • I've just had a lovely couple of hours with my phone and a debit card browsing bathroom accessories. Ikea got my business in the end, with a little side order of light bulbs from Argos

                  • Morning all.

Bright and breezy today. Had a lovely day out yesterday and a great night's sleep. So I'm in a jolly mood this morning. I was hogging the smiles a bit earlier, so they were late to set off. Sorry about that.

The wine village/town (population just under 2,000, so a town I guess) we went to was very interesting. The wine co-op was surprisingly cheap for decent wines, the other wineries were very pricey. Weirdly, for such a small place, it has an absolutely huge Spar supermarket. We didn't investigate but will go back. Closer than our other big supermarkets and we could of course pick up a few bottles at the co-op at the same time...

Mr Snoop about to clear the decks (meaning do all the washing-up), I shall do some paid work in readiness for the week ahead. And then it's cake-making and chicken-roasting time. Not a badly balanced day apart from the lack of dog-walking due to a hunter nearby who keeps shouting. We haven't heard his dogs, but he will certainly have heard ours, as he keeps setting them off.

                    Have a great day, everyone.

                    • Mornin n’alln’all

Ooo gf…ikea!…I wonder if they have their chilled ginger biscuit dough in again?….I think it’s time I payed them a visit!
Frustratingly ours isn’t far from the vets where we’re taking Hibou tomorrow, but I’m not prepared to extend her time in the car/cat basket as she absolutely hates being enclosed.
We also need to take back one of the kitchen cabinet doors which we’ve had for 8 years as it’s got a small split in the coating which is just starting to cause the door to swell in that immediate area.
I think a separate campervan trip up there followed by the rest of the day by the coast another time soon is in order

We started the day with drizzle but the sun is peeking through so I think a bit more cutting back and shredding is in order- then back to the family tree…

Enjoy your day peeps whatever you get up to!

                      • Oops - cross posted there Snoop. We have hunters here too. No dogs and just occasional shots so I’m guess they are looking for pheasants.
We had a male pheasant strutting up and down the outside of our electrified chook fencing a couple of days ago. So I guess there must be a few around. One of our farmer neighbours bred black ones a few years back and some escaped following a fox attack on their shelter. They’ve clearly bred with the wild ones and occasionally we spot a black one. The idea is they are easier to spot for shooting
For safety’s sake I’ll pop out to do my gardening at midday when the hunters will be eating!

                        • Good morning all from a very wet and rainy Dublin.

Just had the most tragic news.
My friends son collapsed and died late last night.
He had an operation a few weeks ago and they fear it might have been a clot.
They must now wait for a post mortem result.
                          We are devastated.

My grandson will come for lunch today.
                          Enjoy your Sunday,

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                              • I've had a busy morning with nothing much to show for it, although my stew is in the slow cooker and I can already smell it. I feel like one of the Bisto kids. Next job is to make some Yorkshire pudding batter and put it to rest in the fridge. If I can pry Mr GF out of his recliner we'll go care home visiting this afternoon. He keeps moaning about the weather and snuggling down while watching some old Western on TV. I have a feeling it might be a losing battle.

Such sad news, Bramble. I'm thinking of you.
