  • Morning all.

Sounds like the smiles are doing their thing. Hope everyone feeling poorly gets better soon.

Chilly here today and a bit damp. The rain forecast has gone up rather than down. And even Frankie is taking shelter indoors. He's been an outdoor cat this summer. Still miffed at Missy for occupying what he sees as 'his' chairs and fleecy blankets.

Not sure what's on the cards today. Had a less productive day yesterday than hoped. Today is likely to be the same. Never mind, there's always the day after tomorrow.

    Have a great day, everyone.

        • Afternoon/Evening(What time do people say it's evening?)

Spent a few hours on the plot this morning. Weather was sunny but a bit cold. Was cold when I got home from the allotment had to put the heating on and wrap up on the couch with some blankets.

Hope your all having a nice Sunday

          • Afternoon, we’ve been out walking home now to tea and cake.
It’s been as high as 27.4c in my GH this afternoon it’s now dropped to 12c so I’ve closed both the door and louvres.
            Enjoy your evening

            • Prevening My goodness it's dark! I didn't get the extra hour as sleep, so spent it reading. I've had altogether a lazy day. Good to hear you're making a good recovery Carrie - don't overdo it Enjoy your evening All

              • It did seem to get dark really early tonight. Sunset was 16.42..
l consider evening to begin at about 6 pm for most of the year, but at this time of year we just don't have one, just afternoon and night.

I downloaded the Royal Mail app a few weeks ago when I was looking at the price of posting parcels, including international. I realised it was quite a bit cheaper to buy the postage online. I was presuming that it would be a pain in the.....neck to print my own labels from my phone but as I had a letter to post tomorrow I thought I'd give it a try today, as a trial run. I paid for postage on the app, clicked to download the postage labels on my phone. They downloaded to my basic inkjet printer software on my phone and one more click and they were printed. I am impressed. I do wonder though, why do I always assume things will not work as they should? Experience or cynicism? Maybe a mixture of both?

                • Good morning.

It's not as cold as it has been, but very wet here. I can just hear a faint hum of traffic from the M1. This only happens when it's wet and there's no local noise. Mr GF has been coughing for most of the night, but happily, he seems to have dropped off now. I'll call at the chemist's later. They might even have our prescriptions ready, although they haven't texted me yet. I've just put the heating on. I'll get up when it's taken effect. Although I love the convenience and speed of central heating, there's nothing quite as welcoming as a real fire, either coal or wood. I think there's something magical about watching the flames. As a child, in winter, I never used a chair. Me and our Alsation could usually be found curled up together on the rug in front of the fire.

I think the rain has set in for the day. At least it's not cold enough for snow.

                    • Mornin n’alln’all
The magic of a real fire…I absolutely agree gf!…te he…I can just imagine you curled up with your Alsatian…awww.
In out household it’s always Hibou…mostly on her back legs akimbo
It’s interesting what you say about hearing the M1…in the winter we can hear the nearby river tumbling over the rocks on certain days- again, weather dependant. When we first came here it almost sounded like the rumble of a nearby motorway/ busy A-road. Townies eh?

Its nice waking up to daylight again, but yesterday evening was a bit of a shock wasn’t it?

More of the same for me today…domestics, sewing and a bit of gardening.

                      Enjoy your day peeps!

                      • Morning all.

The highlight here today is the rain. Lots of it. And lots and lots of it to come. So much I'm thinking of asking Mr Snoop if he's got enough wood to make an ark for us and the two cats and one dog, so no need for it to be as big as Noah's.

Got the usual work to do, so better get a move on while the internet's going.

                        Have a great day, everyone.

Talking of sounds carrying there's some donkeys down the lane about a mile walk away and sometimes it sounds like they're just over are garden wall. We can hear the trains sometimes as well but its not as impressive as hearing donkeys.

Don't ya just chuckle why they start to wind down their brays…so sweet and almost pathetic.

A few years ago there was a local who used to travel with his dog with a quad bike and trailer…it used to bark non-stop as he drove around….you could hear his progress around the valley echoing about. Just had to smile. You could always tell it was midday when they headed home for lunch!

                            • Back again. While I was waiting for the heating to work it's magic, I dropped off again and despite the warmth and noisy next door neighbours (it's half term) never heard a thing until a quarter past nine.🙂 Against the odds, and the weather forecast the sun has managed to poke it's head out, at least temporarily. We would have called this half term the "tattie picking hols" when I was a kid. We, all the local kids that is, would climb on the back of the local farmer's wagon with our buckets and get taken to local potato fields. I only have good if vague memories of it. I think we got sixpence a sack.

Snoop, you should get Mr Snoop to build the ark. Can you imagine the consternation and merriment that it would cause locally?

I was on the phone to my sister for over an hour yesterday. She was moaning about her little terrier dog, who pulls on the lead when she walks to the local shop. I told her she ought to design him a harness and trailer, so that he can pull the shopping home and use up some energy.

Time to do something productive now.

                              • Good Morning All Bright but very breezy here. The ginger cat is asleep on a dining chair under the table. You can't see him because the tablecloth is draped over! I wonder if he's beginning to trust me again?
I had forgotten it's half term, there has been no sound from next door. They must be away. Have a good day
