  • Good morning all.

I struggled to get to sleep last night. I was still tossing, turning and coughing at 2 am. However something magical must have happened then as I never heard a thing until 9.30 am. I think the main reason that I awoke then was that somebody had pinched all the duvet and left me with a two or tree inch stripe of uncovered skin and I heard my new vac filters dropping through the letterbox. All my aches and pains seem to have melted away so far today together with the cough.

Happily I don't need to do any shopping today. The only thing on my list I didn't get yesterday was prawns, not urgent, but I was fancying prawn curry or risotto. I even grabbed the last bag of frozen croissants. I have just had a eureka moment. Next time I need shopping in the school holidays I will consider an online shop. I still keep getting the offer of £18 off a £60 shop for my first online shop from Sainsburys. With a fridge and freezer full of food now my hardest job will be deciding what to choose to cook. Should I make Cornish pasties or quiche or should we have lamb shanks?

Time to set the washer off and have more coffee.

    • Feeling like a drowned rat today. It was supposed to be dry this morning and only light drizzle this afternoon. Clearly the clouds didn't get the message. Lots of close thunder and lightning too.

      Glad you're OK, bramble.

Sounds like a fantastic deal you've got going with Sainsbury's, GF. Long may it last.

      Enjoy the telly, Jay.

And have a great rest of the day, everyone.

        • Hi All,
It just shows that bad weather can come anywhere anytime out of the blue especially flooding. Just so sad that so many have lost their lives at this time of year being so close to Crimbo. This type of event is never good at anytime, the families will be distraught as Crimbo will now forever be remembered as a sad occasion for those family members that remain.

I watched a report earlier that said they had began looking for bodies in the mass of piled up cars and debris from the buildings affected by the torrent that had come down the rivers seriously affected, all we can do is say a prayer for the lost soles and for the family members affected.....

          Geoff.

            • No-one's thinking of Christmas here, Geoff. It's All Saints' Day today, the day people try and go to the cemetery where their family members are buried. It's an important day, not just among practising Christians, and doubtless this will form part of any private and public remembrance here.

And although family members will be missed all year round, and although Christmas has become a special day here, influenced by Hollywood films, the main celebration here is Kings' Day (Epiphany) on 6 January.

              • Morning all.

Not raining at the moment, thank goodness. More tomorrow but it looks like that should be the last of this storm. Just drizzle thereafter. Phew. I see you're due a bit more rain, bramble. Hope you've got plenty of books. Not the best way to spend a holiday, though.

On the cards for today, tidying so we can light the fire in the bedroom. Hooray. That'll cheer us up no end.

And very cheering gossip, LD. Glad things are going well on that front. And food and bread-wise too.

                Have a great day, everyone.

It a dry day here so the beddings out on the line I do like the cosiness of Winceyette bedding but it does take longer to dry.

                  • Mornin n’alln’all
Very heavy mist here…so heavy that it feels like fine drizzle.
It’s a Bank Holiday here . Sounds like the Spanish do the same flower thing as the French then. Mostly Chrysanthemum plants. They’ve been everywhere for sale here for the last couple of weeks.

Our friends leave this afternoon, so lots of chattering going on this morning. Got to catch up with everything!

I Know what you mean though about particularly first Christmases after a death Geoff. My father died this weekend many years ago - his mother was still alive at the time and she never enjoyed Xmas again after that

But, as my friend always says…”Live in the present and make the most of every day that you have….you never know what the future brings healthwise” so true.
And as Rary says…” pass on a smile”

                    All very wise words eh?

So …on that….enjoy your day peeps, whatever you do x

                      • Good morning all. It's a mild 19 degs and no sign of rain at the moment Snoop.
Yes Snoop, we bring lots of books because we are living in an area that just sells Spanish books.
We may take the bus into Malaga and spend a few hours in the shopping malls.
November 1st, a holy day at home in Ireland.
                        Have a good day all.

You will find yourself a partner,

It's a bit of a no-weather day here, grey, calm and mild. What a dreadful time for Spain, so many lives lost, so much destruction, the emergency services must be stretched to breaking point. I hope other EU countries have sent help to start the clear-up and rescue any still stranded.

                          • ^There have been offers of help, yes, mothhawk. Not sure what form they're taking, though.

Idiot hunters are apparently out and about, despite the town hall's call for people not to use the dirt tracks.
