Prevening All It's dark now so expecting fireworks any time soon. I'm not sure how folks afford them these days. The display we had on Saturday cost about £150 and lasted for about 4 minutes!

And I’m back with Hibou.
All blood tests good and within normal ranges. Just waiting for one other but they are not expecting a problem
Main problem is her heart, so she needs an ultrasound at some point. On heart med until then(. Plus the rest of her antibiotic course).
Not that we’d put her through heart surgery anyway- whatever the problem ….so it’s very reassuring news.
Talk about utter relief. The previous vet was there and looked very pleased to see such an improvement in only 3 days!

So… I’m going to have a nice cuppa to celebrate, then enjoy my hotpot.

And now I don’t feel so guilty when she asks for a ‘treat’ and I give her a couple ( several times a day if I’m being honest)
I think we’ll do this health MOT every year now to keep a closer eye on her.

Morning all.

Early winter bright sky out there. That very pale blue with weak sunshine. The weather folk on one of my usual sites say it should be cloudy and drizzly. They've not been very accurate recently.

Bit noisy here at the moment, as Mr Snoop is having a rant at the people in a reel on his phone. This is a first. Just as well we don't have a telly...

Lots of work on the cards, as once again I didn't get much done yesterday. I need a really productive day soon.

The smiles were a bit sluggish this morning. They came in late last night, full of the smell of cakes, I'll be bound. But I've at last sent them on their way so they should be with you eventually. I reckon they'll be visiting the cake bakers first, mind.

Good morning all.

A great night's sleep. I've spent over nine hours in bed and slept for well over seven of them.

Nicos, I'm sure Hibou is enjoying her treats and extra cuddles. Pets bring so much joy but so much worry too.

I really ought to do a grory hop today while it's quiet. ....hopefully. Last week was really busy with kids everywhere.

I'm sure that there were far less fireworks last night than normal. I don't think the local pub has had a firework display this year either. Although it is yet again murky this morning there is not the
smokey smell in the air that we normally get just after Bonfire Night.

Snoop, you have my sympathy with the phone rant. Mr GF keeps yelling at the woman on TV who gets out of the walk in shower in an advert. I think he's trying to get her to accidently drop her towel.

I need more coffee now.

Good Morning All Dull again here. I was woken early by a scam on my mobile. This is the third time I've reported and deleted it. So annoying and worrying that the vulnerable elderly might be taken in by it. Its pretending to be from the Government offering a fuel payment. I've been reading since then!
Lots of fireworks last night - some really lovely ones, but very loud. Have a good day

Only just woken up a few minutes ago!
Just time to get the washing machine earning its living…well someone has to and make a brew.
Even Hibou didn’t come and wake me ..or if she did then I didn’t hear her!

I really need to attack the leaves on the lawn today. I did some yesterday but the magnolia is falling thick and fast.
Sewing again- of course.
And apart from that, I think I’m in for a calm day. No doubt involving cooking and freezing more windfall apples!
I’m not even thinking about the hazelnuts….

Enjoy your day peeps- and thanks for the kind wishes and snuggles for Hibou….I’m not so sure she felt them when I was stuffing her medicine down her throat this morning She did however rather enjoy her ‘licky lick’ - no idea what they are really called…long thin sachets of irresistible liquid mush. “Licky lick” somehow sounds so much more pleasurable. …well, so too does a mouse I guess to a cat!

I’ve just ordered some books for my OH to collect..I’m saying they are for my Xmas pressie …but they won’t be the only thing!

Has anyone heard of Nancy Birtwhistle?
She won Bake-off a few years ago and she’s written a collection of 4 books .…eco tips around the house , garden, cooking etc.
I’ve seen a few of her reels on FB and am very impressed. The sort of tips your granny would share. And being a granny now, it’s about time I learn them
Anyone got any of them already?

I’ve just finished cooking another massive batch of apples. Just one more to go I think . Phew- what with those and mirabelles in the fruit freezer, there’s not much room for anything else!

We opened one of the mirabelle and vodka batches when our friends were here…and it’s delish! …we also added various spices and some red wine, but no sugar and it’s very, very moorish
Will deffo do another batch in a demijohn, even if it’s to make more space in the freezer! ( that’s my excuse anyway!)

It looks like it wants to rain- but it’s not forecast, but everywhere is still sopping wet from the heavy dew last night. Good job the lawn isn’t in need of an urgent trim….but it’s definitely growing still…is everyone else finding that with this unusually warm weather.
I remember Bonfire Night as a kid needing to keep warm near the bonfire, wearing a balaclava and having freezing feet.
Actually , come to think about it, most of my photos from my young childhood seemed to be of me with a balaclava and thick woollen tights…even by the seaside in summer!

I follow Nancy Birtwhistle on Instagram Nicos. Thanks to her, I make my own Caster and Brown sugar. I haven't made her cleaning products, but they do look good.
Out grass is still growing and may need another cut. We leave the leaves to rot down on it, sanctioned now by GQT
