  • Morning all.

Salfumán is hydrochloric acid. I've never used it. Perhaps I should on my hob grates though. They're dire (talk about washing your dirty linen in public). I'll give the grass trick a go first, mind.

Another busy day ahead. Plus I'm supposed to be doing lunch for three. No idea what yet and I need to get started in about 45 mins. Hope there's some inspiration over on the cooking thread. Not going to think about tiramisu. So good it's lethal stuff.

    Have a great day, everyone.

    • Snoop, learn a lesson from Mr GF and if you try the acid try it on a little non- visible bit first or something unimportant.

          • Good day all,had a good natural sleep, and feel chilled out for a change, good luck with your oven shelves girls,as for tiramisu ,i also saw that program,i was very supprized at how they made them,my understanding was simples, not 4 hours work, all i do is,make a stronger coffee with icing sugar to sweeten and a good dolop of masala wine, whilst cooling, whipup a large tub of double cream 2 tubs of mascapone, a glug uf masala and some icing sugar to sweeten,,then assemble, put lady fingers into the bottom of a trile dish a good layer, followed by a layer of the cream, untill the top of dish finish with the cream and a dusting of cocoa, but remember not to drive afterwards hehehehe, can be done the day before keep in the fridge, have a good day all

            • Oh Lottie- I’m drooling at the very thought….

Flo- well in that case it’s done a brill job of the baked on bits in that loads just wiped off with kitchen paper- hence the thought another go may well loosen the next , deeper layers.

GF….your OH sounds fun to be around!

Hydrochloric acid? Yikes…and I was worried when my OH disappeared up our lounge chimney scrubbing the soot/ tar off the granite stones before our woodstove was fitted….

              • Nicos, I thought it was traditional to send little boys up chimneys, not grown men. That must be one big chimney!

                • I know yesterday LD you were saying your Christmas cake was undercooked. Then we were talking about Nancy Birtwhistle. I've just seen this.

                        • I’ll take photos in December if anyone is interested?
We have two others the same size which we use , and the oldest one in the barn( 1630s) can’t be used as the top chimney was removed.

                          • My eldest GG has just called for a cake I hastily made for her. She's hosting a little birthday party for one of her best friends this evening. It made me smile when she said "I like to go the extra mile with home made cake"
