    • Good evening all. We are back home from our holiday and I cannot believe how early it got dark. I know Spain is just one hour hedbutit suremks difference.
I used to make my Christms cake very year and ice it but dont any more nobody seems to bother with.
Changing the subject,I couldn't believe the the variety of flowers that are still blooming in my garden. Dahlias, Rudbeckia, Nasturtiums, Verbena, Marigolds, a few Rose's and a few sweetpeas. I also picked about a dozen Sungold tomatoes in the greenhouse.
Lots of tidying and cleaning up in the garden tomorrow..hoping it's a dry day.
      Have a good evening all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I also stopped making a Christmas cake instead I bake a couple of Carrot cakes, which soon get eaten.

          • Welcome back bramble!…I’m also still amazed at my nasturtiums and geraniums!
My rosemary has just come into flower- it clearly hasn’t got a clue which season we”re in!

            • Welcome back, Bramble. I hope the sunshine has followed you.

My Christmas cactus has got a mind of it's own and the first flower is just opening. It sits on my kitchen windowsill and obviously thrives on neglect.

Bren. You have just mentioned yet another of my weak spots ......carrot cake! A good, moist, gooey one takes a lot of beating but some commercial ones are a real let down.

I must have done a fair amount of cleaning today as my fingertips ended up all corrugated, a bit like the beach at Blackpool. I hate wearing gloves though. The only time I wear them is when handling raw chicken. After a bad bout of campylobacter a good few years ago I am so careful. Never again if I can avoid it.
