I never thought of that.💡I've got a couple of pairs of old waterproof padded ski trousers that I used to wear at the allotment in winter. Unfortunately I fear that they will now be a "bit" too tight.

I’d heard the same thing…eww…can you imagine wet trousers flapping away all day on your skin?
Chafing and sudacrem come to mind

As an aside…do people still give their posties/ bin men/ teachers…..et al Xmas gifts?
Here the postie sells a calendar, the firemen sell a calendar and so do the war veterans sell a calendar…..you really do feel you need to buy from each one, especially when we have such rubbish weather for the postie.
I now tendto buy the postie calander - cos it has recipes etc - not that I’ve ever made one…and being very disappointed at the firemen’s piccies ( ) I now just tend to donate to the other two as I don’t want to waste paper/ cardboard etc.

      • Nearly as bad as the tissue or tissues (I can't really believe one could cause so much chaos) in the washer, I have now got the shoe polish in the slipper! My ancient polish had dried out and cracked and was in the tin in little pea sized blobs! I sort of scooped it out and it softened and did a good job of polishing my boots BUT I did not realise a little blob had dropped into my right slipper. Part of the lining of my slipper is now dyed black and as for my heel. ...... aaaarrrggghhh!!.

On a positive note I have just taken a Christmas cake out of the oven and the aroma is so alluring.😋

        • Evening

Some of the snows gone but it’s now starting to freeze so tomorrow won’t be to good on the roads.

No tipping here Nicos I don’t think I know anyone who does.

Bramble I hope you’re fine after your Covid jab xx

GF did you try warming the polish on the hob or with an air dryer both of those work. I find it less messy than having bits fly out.

          enjoy your evening

          • Bren, no I did not pre-warm the polish. There was just a few little hard-shell bits in an ancient rusting tin. I obviously don't use it very often.... to say the least! ....hangs head in shame.

After the tissue(s) and shoe polish, I dread to think what is going to be number 3 mini-catastrophe. I did triple check my cake ingredients before I put it in the oven.

….on this cold and frosty morning….

gf…hopefully the third thing isn’t burning a pan….or slipping on ice

Grory hop this afternoon when the black ice has melted, and in the mean time a bit more sewing. Almost got to the point I wanted to, so I’m happily on target.

i hope lottie and Bren have a better day healthwise….and, well, anyone else who isn’t feeling too good.
              Keep warm and safe peeps

              • Good morning.

I'm just waiting for the central heating to work it's magic. It's. below zero outdoors. It's a long time since I've seen an icy window like your photo in the snow pics, Nicos. ... apart from the car.

Mr GF has got a hospital appointment late this morning. Fortunately it's at the nearest hospital. I've booked a taxi, as parking is nigh on impossible there at the best of times. Whoever planned the place a few years ago should be hung, drawn and quartered. Totally unfit for purpose!

The new Christmas cake looks good and I've promised a hunk to Mr GF's brother later this week.

                Keep warm everyone.

                • Morning all.

Sprains can be really nasty, Bren. Hope it mends quickly. I'm a terror for going outside in my slippers. They're just about all I wear all year round.

As for the polish, as I sat in the dentist's waiting room, I was mortified to see how filthy my shoes were. Must have got them wet in the rains somehow. Anyway, it was an old spit and polish job for me when there was no-one else in the waiting room. I must have been a kid the last time that was required, and it was probably my mum that did it!

And as for the dentist, after much hammering she decided my bridges were stuck in place. Supposedly only provisionally fixed, but they're determined to stay put. She'll have another try when I go for a check-up. Which will be a good excuse to go and visit a small independent shop we've never seen before. The kind of place you'd find in a big city, not in a run-down town with a population of 3,000. My Christmas drinks cabinet is now pretty full, though there are a couple of other bottles I could have bought... Shame I don't have to go back to the dentist for another six months.

Work beckons today after yesterday's gallivanting. It's cold and chilly out, so will get the range going for me, the dog and Missy, who is treating me like a hot water bottle and is determined to lie across my wrists and up my chest while I'm at the computer. I can't believe she's comfortable. Mr Snoop is having a miserable morning I imagine, as he's taken the car to the mechanics and will just be sitting around till he can bring it home again.

                  Have a great day, everyone.

Edited to add: yesterday's freezer sorting was very productive. Everything is more logically arranged, space freed up and I've also discovered more frozen fish than I realised we had, so better get eating that. And yes, plenty of duck for pie or pâté or indeed even both...

Cats always amaze me how they get into the positions they do, like you say Snoop they don't even look comfy.
GF I'm starting to think all hospitals don't have enough parking our local one never has spaces even the drop-of zone is full.

Parking at ours is so bad that in desperation people abandon their vehicles on grass verges and then get get fines or towed. Just as annoying they don't appear to take into consideration the fact that a lot of the patients that are arriving aren't well, and for whatever reason, temporary or permanent, can't walk far. Lack of seating in their never ending maze of corridors is yet another bugbear. Still, I'm sure some moron thinks it looks "nice".

                      • Good Morning All Freezing but sunny here again. Ginger came in yesterday and climbed on a chair at the kitchen table hidden by the tablecloth. He slept there for a couple of hours, then vamoosed! Himself says the cat is taking me a tata!
I think parking is an issue at every hospital - it's a nightmare for the staff too.
                        Have a good day

                        • Good morning all.
The sun is shining and the frost is glittering like a winter wonderland. The temp is zero.
Hospital parking at our nearest is also a nightmare even though we have a multi storey car park.

Snoop, glad all went well with your trip to the dentist,

Mel I had a poor nights sleep with a very sore arm after my covid jab,

Lots of indoor jobs today and then collecting my grandson from school.
                          Stay warm and safe all,

                            • We've just got back from the hospital. Mr GF has now been signed off by his specialist. They now seem to have dug up even more of what were already totally inadequate car parks. Although my phone says it is 3°C here, due to the icy wind, it feels absolutely sub-zero. Brrrhh!! The trip to the supermarket has been postponed until tomorrow. I will, however, go down to the fish and chip shop later.😋 In fact, while the temperature is officially above zero, I'll brave the wind, start the car and and remove the remaining snow from it while we still have daylight. Roll on spring!

                              • Well, I have just been out to the garden and I am amazed to see some plants still in flower.
Nasturtiums growing up a south facing wall. Petunias in a pot. 2 fuschias, and a few Marigold.
