Not much wind here, but lots of rain. It has been pouring all night. I know because I was awake from 3.30 am onwards.

There's nothing I particularly want from the sales, so I'll avoid the crowds.

What I do want however, for a birthday present next week is a Morello cherry tree on a dwarf rootstock. If anybody has bought one and can recommend a supplier please let me know. I used to have a Morello cherry but even though I pruned it madly it grew enormously each year.

Morning, it’s a rainy 3° at the moment but no wind, neither was there wind last night no snow either! So much for the yellow weather warning!!!

It was a cold but dry day...Spent some of it in the garden.
Took all the dead leaves off the containers of geraniums in the greenhouse.
Got the fleece from the shed and covered them all for the upcoming cold snap.
Hopefully it want last too long.

Heavy rain overnight but it’s stopped now.
The gardens certainly need a bit of a clear up, but I’ve a lot of eggs needing using up, so it may well end up a baking day if it’s too chill to garden. There was a bitter wind yesterday so we’ll see.

Morning all.

It was really foggy yesterday for most of our drive and such a shock to emerge into the blue skies closer to the coast. Lovely. Looks like we brought the weather back with us, as it's clear here so far today. There have been winters where nearly every day has been thick fog. Really hoping this isn't another like that.

So, back to work for me today. Another public holiday on 6 Jan, so I'm let in gently. Missie won't be sorry that I'm tied to the keyboard more. She's taken up occupation in one of her two favourite daytime spots: her bottom resting on my wrist pad, her body stretched up my left arm and her head on my shoulder. Her other favourite position is stretched up my other arm, not quite perching on my shoulder but high enough that she can chew my hair at the back.

Because I was up early today and because it's nice and sunny, the smiles shot off this morning at such a lick they'll probably have time for more than one round today.

Morning all.

Clear, sunny and frosty here, the black ice sort of frost you can't really see. The smiles swooped by earlier, Snoop, so they probably are going around again, celebrating the extra 3 minutes of daylight we get today, I expect.

I'm happy today, because not having put up Christmas decorations, I don't have to think about taking them all down and stowing them away, not ever my favourite job after Christmas. Instead, I have a clear week, nothing planned, nothing urgent to do. Bliss.

Good morning all,up earlier today,Man has just delivered my meds,so i should be bouncing around again in a few days,i feel like putting christmas back in the box,blow tradition,looks like we got blue in the sky and the sun is opening her eyes,but still cold,it just shows us a glimmer of what we hope will come,

Good morning all.

It's -2°C here and the roofs and cars are coated in a thick layer of frost. I had a peek outside in the wee small hours, without my glasses, and couldn't tell if it was frost or snow .... just a white blur. The temperature is forecast to creep above freezing this afternoon for three of four hours. Thank goodness for central heating. I really don't like the cold.

Oh the sun has just put in an appearance.

Apart from visiting my brother in law later today, after the car has hopefully self-defrosted, I think it's mostly a day for laundry and cleaning, unless I can think of an excuse to avoid it.

I have found and ordered a Morello cherry tree for my niece's birthday present. It's on a dwarf rootstock and so shouldn't take over. As a child she used to climb my tree to get all the cherries and when she was in the sixth form at school, brought a whole raiding party with her. I'm sure she'll be happy to have her own.
