  • Good morning.

It is freezing. The temperature has just crept up to -3°C, but at least the sum is shining. I am really happy that my nice young neighbour has put my big recycling wheelie bin out for me as it is full for the first time ever, due to no collections on Bank holidays, and it is uphill to the edge of the road.

I really can't put off going shopping any longer. I need to get something for my brother in law from the mobility shop (in a horrible cul de sac) as well as brave the supermarket.

    Keep warm every body.

      • Morning, looks as though it’s been snowing but it hasn’t just a very frosty-2 at the moment, up from -4 at 8 ish.
Nothing on the cards today except a walk later. Went for treatment and was told I’d put on a bit of weight since I was last weighed Not eating more than usual but I’m doing less exercise so need to up that.
Hope Harry is much improved Flo.
Have a great day all. Be careful out there those that are venturing out! x

        • Good morning all. It was minus 5 overnight but is up to minus 1 now.
We dont need to go out today so I have lots of little jobs to do indoors.
wrap up warmly if your going out and take care.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

          • The day is improving, even the temperature is no longer below freezing ..... not above either though, and the car is still frozen. There was a not very nice job I thought I had to do today that is not necessary at all.🙂

Also I decided to check if the mobility shop had the item I wanted in stock before going. They don't. I had a look on Amazon. Same item, free delivery direct to my brother in law tomorrow, and a third cheaper.😀

I am hoping that the car will start to defrost shortly and I will psyche myself up for trying to get everything on my ever expanding shopping list.

            • Just back from grory hop….got most things apart from not making it in time to the garden centre before it shut for lunch.

No rush I guess, although it would have been rather nice to see potatoes chitting.

We did however manage to buy a new cooker. Exactly the same as the one we have, but easier cleaningWe thought over and over whether we should get a normal sized and a small oven but finally decided against it and went for the full 90cm wide oven again. I guess I’ve got used to cooking several things at once in the large oven then freezing some of it. We have a small worktop oven we can use for smaller things.
Frustrating thing is….delivery is in 8 weeks. We got enough off it in the sale though, and with free delivery and fitting, it’s absolutely fine. We’ll keep the other one in the barn for now (as it’s always handy to have a spare hob) and maybe cannibalise bits off it.
The original gas grates( not sure if that’s what they are called?) on the hob look much more solid on the older one. Hopefully they will be interchangeable. Also it’ll be good to have a spare shelf!

so…having filled the camper up with petrol and bought the cooker. I think I best sit down to recover!

Well done with your online purchase gf!…can’t believe UK delivery times compared to over here

What’s everyone else up to this coming weekend?Anything exciting? If it stays like it is weather wise I’ll be spending as much time in the garden as possible!
We’re off to the uk again next week so I guess I’ll need to think about packing too.
Very much looking forward to haggis, Eccles cakes, malt loaf and Wensleydale cheese at the moment!

              • Tezzies made it this morning and he was in shorts! Lord Ginger is snoozing on the chair under the table, hidden by the tablecloth. I don't try to stroke him now, but he rubs his head on my hands, so that will do.
Sounds like you bagged a bargain Nicos.
I thought it was this weekend we were going to see the wedding venue but it's later on this month. Hopefully the weather will be better by then. I think it's Bren's neck of the woods - Peak Edge.Hotel.
Not heard about Harry's condition today, but I do know he's got his appetite back, so that's a good sign

                • Evening

We walked over to do the Grory hop it’s less than a 10min walk I’m sure it would have taken longer to clear the car of ice.

Flo, I’ve been to Peak Edge Hotel for a works do a few years ago it’s a lovely venue.

No seed potatoes here yet Nicos it can’t be long though.

                  enjoy your evening

                          • I am very happy to say that it looks as if my young niece will actually receive her birthday present tomorrow, the Morello cherry tree, on the actual day. I must admit, however, that this is simply due to good luck, rather than good management.

I went outside early this afternoon to de-ice the car, with every intention of doing a grory hop. I slithered out to the car and completely cleared the screen, started the engine, and warmed the interior. I then came close to splitting my difference trying to get back indoors. In the end I decided that if getting out was causing me so much trouble it would be ridiculous for Mr GF to attempt it.

A complete rethink! I looked at doing a Sainsbury's online shop. No delivery spots until Sunday. I then investigated Asda. I've now ordered a "few", over £50s worth, basics of life... to be delivered tomorrow night. I actually thought that I was ordering it for tomorrow morning but no, I'm a doylem. I actually fear that 'doylem' might be another nearly extinct word?

Never mind. At least I won't run out of milk, or wine, or coffee.
