Edited to add: I've got some of those dried cherries that have been in a jar of amaretto for a while now. Reckon I'll use some of those.

    • Afternoon all.

Tthick fog and hoar frost here and not showing any signs of clearing. I suppose the fog is an indication that the air is slightly warmer, though it certainly doesn't feel any warmer. I've had to put out a fresh dish of water for the birds as I can't break the ice on the other one. It is solid through. I've double layered the fresh dish, and put a thick wad of cloth between plus cardboard underneath, in hopes the water will stay liquid a bit longer.

That Paradise slice looks delish, GF. May have to have a go at making it.

        • Evening

Enjoy your wedding anniversary celebrations Bramble, I’ll think of you both when I have a glass of Merlot later.

I stayed indoors all day, a mix of reading, laundry, card making and cooking.

                • Good evening. I hope you're having a good celebration, Bramble.

The temperature still hasn't risen above zero. The chunks of frozen snow that I prised off the windscreen a few days ago are still sitting intact on the ground. I have been out and started the car earlier, just to make sure I could, but the pavements and road of our cul de sac are still lethal. A friend of my next-door neighbour came round and got his car stuck. I showed her where my stash of rocksalt is and told her to help herself. I've just had an alert on my phone warning of significant snow tonight! It feels as if it's never-ending. I am already planning another online shop.

                  • We have been online supermarket shopping for our main monthly shop from Sainsbury since covid lockdown, usually charge us around £2 for the delivery, I cannot drive there and back for £2. Perishables are topped up locally, bread and milk mostly. Eggs from the farm and meat from the farmers market, fish I try catch myself(though we often have to have something else lol).

                    • Morning

We're lucky our nearest supermarket is a 10min walk away and with how busy our High street can be it usually quicker to walk. even more so now with the car needing defrosting. I use a shopping trolly and MrPots takes a rucksack it's a nice steady stroll no hassle with traffic or parking. We'll keep shopping this way while we can.

Wrap up warm and enjoy your day

                      • Morning all.

Blue again but nowhere near as cold overnight. Big change in temps coming today, but no snow forecast. Hope things improve for you soon, guys.

I'm channelling Nicos today: we have a surfeit of eggs. I got Mr Snoop to buy some. And then he got given another dozen by someone in the village with chickens. Looks like I'll be baking a lot in the next few days.

Other than that, more of the same as yesterday. With an emphasis on more. I'm not being very productive at the moment...

                        Have a great day, everyone.

                            • Mornin n’alln’all

-5C last night here. Lovely blues skies now and sparkly frost in the sun. Nature really is so pretty isn’t it?

We have about 4 dozen eggs at the moment Snoop. Did you know you can freeze them? Just crack them into a silicone muffin tray . They keep a few months in the freezer and are great for baking with once defrosted ( the yolk goes a bit more solid but whips up nicely)
I’m was going to make lemon curd today with some of mine, but I’ve not got any butter so I’ll need to do a grory hop first.
I make it with just the yolks so use the whites mixed in with other eggs in an omlette ( which makes those lower calorie to boot!)

Today I’m making a tea loaf ( thanks Jay for the inspiration!) I noticed it doesn’t need butter so I’ve had the fruit soaking overnight in preparation

OH collected a couple of cubic meters of wood bark yesterday and has started clearing the paths between the raised beds in one of our potagers so I may well end up helping unloading that into place. We’ll need at least another couple of loads , but it’s good to get started on that finally.
All the rain we’ve had has put us well behind on most outdoor jobs but I guess that’s the same for most of us.

How is Mrs Snoop’s pointing going?…I had to chuckle at the thought of him dancing away to ABBA ( please tell me that wasn’t a vivid dream I had?)
Always very interesting to hear what other people are up to.
Have to say though that the thought of clearing ‘stuff’ in my barn is very off putting still, but needs must. That was a job for last summer but so many other things happened that we never got a chance to do it.
Sometimes finding motivation for doing some jobs feel a bit replacing a toy train back on its rails so it can set off again…
So simple in reality So I get what you are saying Burnie. ( that’s been on my list of ‘jobs’ for several years now. Dreadfully appalling avoidance …or should that be a gold star achievement for avoidance …and yep - some of those boxes haven’t been opened in 17 years )
Do feel free to prompt me into tackling ‘memory lane’ once the weather improves.

So, time to shake a leg and get some veggies to roast for supper…and get the cake in at the same time.

                              Enjoy your day peeps!
