  • Good morning all.

It's far too early to get up, and a chilly 4°C outdoors. I'm warm and cosy though. I'm happy to just relax

I need to make another Paradise slice today. Bren In Pots, I've never made pikelets. I banned the bought ones years ago as every time Mr GF had them he used to absolutely saturate them with butter and then end up with bad acid reflux.

    • Mornin n’alln’all

-4C here at the moment. Lovely and frosty too
We had such clear skies last night that we had a really good view of the moon and planets. Didn't stay out long mind!

Not had pikelets for ages Bren. I’d completely forgotten about them. I was actually thinking of having a go at potato cakes as I’ve not had those for ages either.

Indoor day again for me . I did manage to walk very cautiously about the house yesterday without having to hold on - which was wonderful! Certainly getting there

Our son is trying to plan an extension on his house so I may bat around a few ideas he was mentioning onto a bit of paper and see if I can come up with something he might be interested in. I love messing with graph paper - planning my veggie plots, designing cupboards for tricky places, Major DIY home renovations…. I must have been an architect or something in a previous life

Anyone fancy a nice warming brew? I’m about to make porridge too if anyone is interested?

Enjoy your day peeps- and remember to pass on that lovely smile you have.

      • Morning
Was raining here before, seems to have stopped for now.
No major plans. I'd planned to sow seeds yesterday but got caught up in just tidying outside. Bulbs are poking through and the odd snowdrops have appeared. I did put my sweetpeas to Chit though

          • Morning

Not a porridge day here either Nicos I've just finished eating an egg and mushroom cob. It's good news that your knee is improving.

I usually mix apple, raisins and cinnamon in my pikelets with either yoghurt or cream cheese on top. Thinking about it I've never made potato cakes I'll have to have a look at recipes.

            Enjoy your Sunday

            • Morning all.

Chilly but sunny here. Still got some frozen blackberry purée, and there is gelatine in the cupboard so I might make a bramble jelly for dessert today.

Glad the knee is improving, Nicos.

Time for a mid morning brew now. I made some chocolate concrete yesterday after coming across a recipe. I'm sure I've not had it since my schooldays. It will go nicely with a brew.

              • Morning, back from a few days in Ayrshire. Think we must have had the best of the weather there as , although it was very cold in the wind, we had plenty of sunshine. Woke to dull skies and rain this morning!
Sorry to hear about your knee Nicos but glad to see it’s on the mend.
Enjoy your Sunday folks…we’ve decided to have a long lie so best get up don’t you think?!😄

                • Morning all.

Blue skies earlier but clouds are gathering. No rain supposedly, but it's pretty cold. Not as cold as where you are though, Nicos. I've looked ahead to the long-term forecast and have decided not to believe it.

I've had to look up chocolate concrete, as I'd never heard the name before. I certainly remember the pink custard. Horrible stuff.

Plenty to keep me busy today. But I too had a bit of a lie-in. Not sure why but I seem to have been tired these last few days. Kept dropping off at the keyboard yesterday. Fingers crossed I'm a bit more productive today.

Glad to hear you're getting about a bit better, Nicos.

                  Have a great day, everyone.

                    • Good day all. A dull drizzly day here so it will be spent indoors.
Grandson is coming for lunch and I will, get him to help with some computer problems I have been having.

Glad your knee is improving Nicod, take it gently.

Bren, some of my Sweet Peas have germinated so I feel we are getting nearer the planting season.

I never heard of pikelets or chocolate concrete so had to look them up.
                      Have a good day all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

                        • I hope you start to feel better soon, Lottie. It sounds awful.

I must remind my niece who I bought some self watering plant pots with inbuilt scaffolding for Christmas, that it's time to plant some sweet peas. I bought the pots for her with the idea that she'd like to grow some tomatoes but she's decided that she wants sweet peas.

I've got another Paradise slice in the oven. I think it should be nearly ready now. I can smell it. When I make it I don't bake the pastry blind first as I found it made no difference to the end result and I put pastry about a couple of centimetres up the side to stop any jam going on the side of the tin and burning.

I ate everything at school dinners .... even prunes. I just couldn't understand "picky" eaters. Mind you there was no choices back then, and definitely no chips or pizza or even salad. Lots of stodge. Not that any of us were overweight.

I had to break off as the oven timer was beeping...

                          • A bit dull and murky today, been for a fuddle in the greenhouse, checked on the heated prop, no signs yet of latest onion sowing. Yesterday was a glorious foggy, frosty, sunny day in Perth with the Grandsons, though we lost the magnet on the rope in the river, so ended the fishing.
