  • Evening n’alln’all

Sorry to hear you are still struggling with your hand Rary. I guess these things take time- especially as it was so bad before the op?
Hopefully now you are driving again you won’t need to be walking around so much? Might that help your back?
    Speedy recovery…keep positive x

No real news at my end apart from going off in the camper for a couple of days tomorrow. But I’ll still be around on here

We’ll be putting the heating on tomorrow too seeing as the fire won’t be lit. Can’t let Hibou get cold!
What a change from just a few days ago!

Hope everyone manages a full night’s sleep tonight. It’s not a full moon for another few days…so no excuses!

    • Good morning all.

Sleep is eluding me yet again. Three and a half hours really is not enough for man nor beast. I am warm, comfortable, pain-free and wide awake! Another couple of hours would be wonderful.

My online supermarket shop will hopefully be arriving between 10am and 11am.

I've just looked at the weather forecast. It looks like a batten down the hatches type of day.

Rary, I hope your hand and back are improving.

Nicos, I hope that you get some decent weather for your trip.

          • Morning all.

Not looking good here at the moment, weatherwise, either. The forecast is for storms all day.

Hot water bottles still in use here too. The other day, Missie had plonked herself on mine the other night and when I moved it as my feet were too hot, she gave me a proper telling-off. She has at last learned the word no but answers back in no uncertain terms.

On the cards for today, more of the usual work. And I'd better step on it, too.

            Have a great day, everyone.

                • Morning

A cool cloudy day here, time to get my thermals and lined trousers back on.

No hot water bottles here we use an electric blanket instead, its used for 30 mins before bed. I remember as a kid having an Aga shelf in the bed wrapped in a blanket to warm the bed.

                  enjoy your day

                  • Good morning again.

It's a much more civilised hour now. I got another two hours sleep.

Although we are still forecast a batten down your hatches type of day nobody has told the sun. It is shining brightly at the moment. Not a cloud in the sky, and just a light breeze.

I've had my confirmation email for my online shop. There are a couple of things missing. One is the aubergines I'd ordered ready to make Metabal. What are they sending instead? A cucumber!!! Really. Also no daffodils or hot cross buns (there's only one sort I like so I did not click the option for a substitute). It's the cucumber that has befuddled my brain. What exactly has it got in common with aubergines? At least it looks like I'm getting my frozen corn on the cob and croissants.

We watched the "Ipcress file" last night which I enjoyed. Micheal Caine was chopping up a red pepper, after visiting an early supermarket. It made me realise that when the film was made, 1965, they were unavailable in rural Yorkshire, along with such things as fresh garlic, avocados, corn on the cob (fresh or frozen), aubergines, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, chillies, rocket, and I'm sure lots of other things that we now take for granted, and even grow ourselves. I'd never tasted mayonnaise, curry, any Chinese food, or pizza, and spaghetti came in a tin coated in tomato sauce. I'm not really surprised that, as a child, I had very little interest in most food other than as fuel. I'll never forget taking my mother on her first trip abroad (Spain) in the 1970s. One of her comments one day was "I wish I had two mouths"

                      • Ah memories GF, the foods that are available nowadays are so different from when we were young, Curry was one of my pals surname not something to eat, no sliced bread , and definitely no pan bread, actually bread wasn't even wrapped the shop assistant (remember those) picked it up and dropped into a paper pock, hygiene wasnt quite the same in those days anyway
Good morning a frost overnight then a nice sunny morning to start with but now clouding over we have our sons dog Poppy with us just now ,and I have been out a walk with her, when she comes back in she seems to think OHs lap is her bed, jumps up onto her knees straight away then sits and looks out the window, still not going to do anything yet , I visit the hospital tomorrow , where hopefully I will get some exercises to do, I was told by the consultant not to do anything till I had attended there, so being obedient I am following his instructions😇. I was reading through some of the other threads which reminded me that I need to get my veg beds covered to build up some heat in the ground, so all being well tomorrow I should get that started this weekend
Snoop the reason for asking about retirement age in Spain I thought it maybe in the fifties age group😏😁😁, but once you do retire you will wonder how you found time to work, hope you all have a good day and find plenty to smile about, and if you do pass the smiles on

                        • Thanks for the compliment, rary. I don't get so many of those these days, given my age!

I think when I retire, it will feel like getting my life back. Really looking forward to it.

                          • I was bought up with meat and homegrown veg, fish and chips on Friday. Rice was a pudding so when I first heard of eating as a dinner I thought it was a joke.
