  • Good afternoon, GF if you have had 6 birthdays where you lost an hour do you realise that you are 6 hours younger than you thought😋 back home from our holiday where the weather was very nice, we have been going to the Lake District for more than 30 years, some time 3 times a year and in all that time I think we have only had rain on a couple of days, and now that we are back home we have rain, fortunately it was dry this morning so managed to get my early potatoes in the ground, along with some broccoli and lettuce.
Driving home yesterday it was very noticeable that there are not a lot of wind generators in England, cross the boarder and there are dozens in the countryside, I dont want you to think I am being political, but I fail to understand why we have so many windmills all over the countryside and yet we pay more for our electricity than someone in London, only the Liverpool area which is closer to where the power is generated pays more than us up here, if you are wondering what brought this on, we arrived home to a notification that our power bill is increasing by more than threehundred pounds a year, after puting that down I am feeling noweel, I will have to go and lie down, I wonder if OH will come with me, it would possibly save having to heat the house I think there are two chances of that, slim and nill ah well we can dream😁 enjoy your evening and keep smiling🙂🙂🙂

    • Evening all.

I've decided: I'm on gardening leave not next week but the week after. Fingers crossed the rain has stopped by then... If it hasn't, I think I'll build a swimming pool and let it fill naturally.

Hear you on the wind turbines, Rary. Nuff said.

      • Evening all.

It's raining as if the weather is trying to fit the entire month's rain into just tonight.

Rary, I'm thinking that to get to the Lake District, once over the border you would be mostly driving through National Parks, or areas of outstanding natural beauty, where wind turbines are not allowed. i assure you there are plenty of turbines further south.

        • Don’t see many around here, but France is big on nuclear power. A lot being exported to the uk if I correctly recall.

One thing which I noticed on our last trip to the uk is there were huuuge fields absolutely covered in solar panels. Seems sensible, especially if sheep graze beneath them.

Rary there's loads around but they're on hillsides /moorland not so near the motorway though.

Rained overnight but due cloud and sunshine for a few days I think. Did a bit outside yesterday but I need to crack on with weeding.

                • Morning all.

Not raining at the moment. Another three or four days of it and then we get a ceasefire as they say round here. Doesn't seem like a very appropriate word these days for it simply not raining for a bit.

For some reason, I didn't get that much done yesterday. So I'd better do it today... Including the domestics I was trying to avoid.

                  Have a great day, everyone.

So we’ve just spent an hour repairing the slat frame…with pieces of packing wood from when we bought the new cooker! …see hoarding DOES come in handy

Job done , but not an expected one

                      • Good morning all.

It's very grey and murky here, but not actually raining.... yet. Yesterday afternoon the sky turned so dark, and we got a really heavy downpour, complete with thunder, but no visible lightening.

I am trying to work my way through the backlog of washing that seems to have accumulated from nowhere. It's the drying that's the hard part. Mind you I'd ordered some new towels that arrived yesterday and it said to wash before use. I did, just in case dye poured out on first use, and we ended up with blue skin or hair.

Once out of town, it's rare around here to not see some wind turbines on the horizon. I think I've got used to them whereas massive pylons have always given me the heeby jeebies. They always look as if they are marching across the landscape.

As CG said was it just kneeling🙄 but you would think that the framework for a bed would withstand a normal persons weight 🤔 but to avoid sinking any further, I will change the subject😋 I must say its good to come across the proof of a reason to keep things that might be needed, doing so of course is called by the uninitiated, hoarding, people really need to understand the need for storing things incase of future use😁😁😁
