Well, having said only yesterday that it’s stunning seeing all the sloes in the hedges in flower, today I spotted a large, bright yellow butterfly.( The first butterfly of the year that I’ve seen)
Having ID’d it, it’s a male Brimstone which lays its eggs on ….guess what?…yup - Sloe

A blue tit was in the bird box on the side of the house, picking away at the hole to make it bigger. Hopefully they will nest in it.

Saw it today again. Keep flying past my window with nesting material stuffed in its beak heading back and forward to the next.

Watching a woodpecker on one of our peanut feeders

Also seeing the sheeps wool insulation we left out for the birds slowly reducing in size. I’ve not actually seen birds taking it , but it must be going somewhere!

That reminds me,I was tidying the garden,I found a little black slug, killed it,then I thought I’d found another slightly bigger black slug, squashed it a bit but it was hedgehog poo, that was funny I wish I had it on video with close up reaction,I think I was happier at finding the poo

Good afternoon, was over at my sisters this morning and though we can have a chat she drifts off to sleep, if she is anything like our mother she will be back on her feet shortly, the doc had given her a couple of months at the most, five years later he couldn't understand what kept her going, and by then though not mobile she was still as sharp as a tack, but sister has pneumonia as well as after effects of covid, along with the cancer, I must say I am grateful for the gardening that I do as it gives me something to help with the worry, now need to go and make the tea, enjoy your evening, take care and smile
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

The apple blossom on my two little apple trees

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
