(((Hugs))) Tammy
It's not much consolation, but the cold would have numbed any pain and made him feel like he was just gently drifting off. I'm sure kitty heaven is full of mice to chase & open fires to curl up in front of...
I'm so sorry to hear that, Tammy. Every time we lose a loved pet we say; 'Never again'. But in the end the love and companionship they give is something so special that eventually a new dog enters our lives. We lost our rabbit last week, he'd been the kids' when they were little, had lived to a ridiculously old age and we'd been caring for him for most of that time as they'd quickly lost interest. Our youngest is 20 next week and losing the rabbit almost seemed like we'd lost their childhood. We were far more upset than we thought we'd be, but it's nothing compared to the loss of a dog or cat. My thoughts are with you. love BM.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
Ooohh Tammy, I am so sorry. At least you gave him a wonderful, loving and happy life for all those years. Big [[[[[[[[[[[[[hugs]]]]]]]]]]] for you and the family xxxxx
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance
And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.
Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.
But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.
Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."
Beutiful poem. When I used to work in a bookshop, we were asked occasionally for a 'good book to help kids when a pet dies'. Without doubt the best IMHO is 'Goodbye Mog' by Judith Kerr. A wonderful, sensitive book of transition. Do not, I repeat DO NOT, go into your local book shop and wander into the kiddies section and thumb through it - you will frighten the children and wailing attracts stares. But when you feel ready get it from the library - it was a comfort to me.
Hi Tammy so sorry about your cat. We have a cat that is 14 years old and every time he goes out I worry that it will be the last time I see him, he is looking old now and when he doesnt appear at the door I worry.
Hugs to you all. Lovely poem.
Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
